About Sea Trail Resort Villas
The Sea Trail Resort Villas are located north of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and south of Wilmington, N.C. The property sprawls across 2,600 acres and features three championship golf courses. Villas span from one to four bedrooms in size and are equipped with full kitchens, all within 1.5 miles from the barrier island beaches. Indoor and outdoor pools are available to guests at the activity center, which also includes a game room, shuffleboard and more. Units feature a screened-in porch or balcony. Stay-and-play golf packages are available to Sea Trail Golf Club's Rees Jones, Dan Maples and Willard Byrd golf courses. Sea Trail has two clubhouses with driving ranges, putting greens and a PGA-sanctioned learning center.Facts

Greens poor
Course not bad but greens inconsistent and bumpy. Might be good in summer but I will not return during winter.

Nice layout, excellent place of play, marginal course conditions
Staff on arrival was very good and helpful. Pace of play was great and probably due to there being few golfers at the time we played.
Course layout was good and very fair from the white tees.
Course conditions were marginal at best. Tees and greens were in poor shape. Greens were very spotty and were bumpy and slow. I suspect this may have been due to recent very cold temperatures.
I would recommend to friends and would like to play again at some point but not under current conditions.

Don't waste your time nor money!!
Was so disappointed. Maples use to be a really good course. Don't waste your time nor money. By far the worse course we've played in the Sunset Beach through Myrtle Beach area as our group plays different courses each week. Cart paths are in disrepair. Best to ride down the middle of the fairway than experience the totally broken and bumpy cart paths. Total lack of maintenance throughout the course. Snack bar was closed. Talked with some members after the round and they said the pro, the superintendent , and several of the maintenance staff recently quit because owner wasn't putting any money into course. Will never play this course again.

January Golf
I am here in North Carolina for part of the winter. One of the main reasons I come here is that I can play golf. Lots of courses. I really like this course. The staff is really friendly and goes out with their way to help you. I’m not a great golfer and I’m recovering from knee surgery so the experience is really an unknown. I told the starter I didn’t want to play with other guys because of that. He went out of his way and let me start on number 10. The course was very crowded because they had a weather delay and a league and lots of people trying to play before a freeze comes tomorrow. Nevertheless they managed all of those people and kept everybody happy and the pace of play steady! The course is in good condition for winter. A little wet yesterday because of recent rain and they watered but as the sun came out everything was good. Greens are remarkable for winter as well. The cost as reasonable as well for this is golf country!

Flip the nines
Played the back 9 first, and I'm glad. The front 9 holes were much more interesting. The overseeding was just growing in, but the fairways were in great shape. I rode the fairways because the cart paths are very rough.

Great layout. Cart paths rough on Byrd course. Love the Jones course. Could use improvement. Doesn’t look like owner is putting $$ into course.

I liked the course and found it to be quite fair. If you can control your ball, you can score on this course.

Not bad for the time of year.
Greens were fast. They are dying off but not in bad shape and will hold a shot.. Fairways were good and the rough isn’t so bad that you can’t hit a shot from it.
Check the dying off comment. What I meant was that they are going dormant. My apologies.

Play the Jones Course
After playing the Jones course I was really looking forward to playing Byrd. I think I will play the Jones again but I won’t be playing Byrd again. Kinda boring honestly

Could be a great course
I am a 9 Handicap
I am 65
I play around 5 days a week.
Layout is very good.
Greens are fast and fairly true.
Bunkers are exceptional.
Tee boxes are a combination of Bermuda rough and sand.
Rough is knarly 2 inch Bermuda where your ball falls down, so as to be hard to find and hard to advance.
Fairway is the rough grass, but shorter.
The greens are the fairway grass, but shorter.
Probably the time of year, but many fairways were brown (time to overseed?)
Seems like courses want to raise prices cuz of Covid, but don't want to put the money back in the course.
Put money into this place, and it could be a non-inflated 4.5!

Played Rees Jones course at Sea Trail 6 months ago. I was expecting the same level. Jones course is a better track.
