About Sea Trail Resort Villas
The Sea Trail Resort Villas are located north of Myrtle Beach, S.C. and south of Wilmington, N.C. The property sprawls across 2,600 acres and features three championship golf courses. Villas span from one to four bedrooms in size and are equipped with full kitchens, all within 1.5 miles from the barrier island beaches. Indoor and outdoor pools are available to guests at the activity center, which also includes a game room, shuffleboard and more. Units feature a screened-in porch or balcony. Stay-and-play golf packages are available to Sea Trail Golf Club's Rees Jones, Dan Maples and Willard Byrd golf courses. Sea Trail has two clubhouses with driving ranges, putting greens and a PGA-sanctioned learning center.Facts

Don’t waste your time
The staff is very off putting and the course isn’t that special. If this is a course you live near and enjoy probably not a terrible option, but you can probably find better. If you are a tourist and looking for a decent priced fun round, look somewhere else it’s a waste of your vacation time.

Very mediocre experience.
Greens had been aerated within past couple of weeks. They were bumpy, slow and inconsistent from one green to the next. Tee boxes needed mowed. Bunkers were in need of edging. Carts had coolers but we had to ask for ice. They had NO cups or bottles of water. Luckily I brought a cup and a couple of bottles of water. No towels in cart. No tees in cart. No on course beverage service. Went to snack bar at turn and they only had hot dogs, no other sandwiches even though there was a menu listing various other choices. Very lacking in amenities based on a resort type course. Funniest thing of the day was the cart attendant telling us that the course was in great condition.

Old course in need of help
Needs updating to keep them at the same level as the two other courses on-site. Would not go back for the price when you can get better value near by.

August Golf
Overall Maple course layout was fine but greens need significant improvement. Many greens had 2 types of grass growing and could not get a natural roll.

Sea Trail Rees Jones Course in August
An okay experience. Played at just before 8am on a Wednesday. Starters were unfriendly. No beverage cart service on a hot day and no mention of this by either the starters or the check-in staff in the golf shop. Was playing as a single, matched up with another golfer which was fine and expected -- went off of #10. Pace was okay but not great - waiting on every tee and approach shot, not unexpected when playing as a twosome. Layout was good -- challenging at times. Course conditions were okay but greens were rather slow and a couple of course features just felt a bit unattended to (bunkers, tees and rough). Overall an average round of golf.

Ground Keepers need a refresher course on details
The biggest issue I had was the mowers. They mowed with a very close cut that left heavy globs of grass on the fairway and greens.
This course was recommended as a primer course, Just not up to the billing

Course was in bad condition
I called the clubhouse and they told me the greens have not been punched got to the course and they have been punched grass was high on tees golf carts was in bad shape

Duffer’s Hideaway
Nestled at the end of the Sea Trail the staff greeted me with a smile and set the mood for the day. The greens are well maintained but if I had to be critical the cart paths are due for an upgrade.. I’d highly recommend playing this course.

Course could badly use some TLC. The layout was pretty redundant and not particularly interesting. Greens were a little fuzzy but rolled true. Pace of play was great.

Great layout
The course has a great layout. Greens rolled true, fairways were in great shape. Pace of play was quick. But Tee boxes were in desperate need of a cut. Some tee boxes had weeds that were over a foot tall.

Rates to high for conditions
Good layout and friendly staff but I wouldn’t pay more than $40-45 for the current conditions. Tees quite rough. Greens either burned or fungus.
Fairways hit or miss, no pun intended.

Maples Sea Teail
The most discouraging part of playing this course were the greens. They played like they were made out of Velcro and very inconsistent. Took the fun out of putting.
