I have always thought that this was exactly what not to do (scooping) but I never realized that when you make the body turn, it leads to a good release. Thanks. Can you get the same result by just keeping your elbows together?
Thanks. I had an intuition that I had gravitated away from this completed motion..... holding off and using body more like a 1/2 pitch. So that led to swinging more down and a bit harder with irons, rather than the fairly clean 'pop' I felt with confident mid-irons. Yes, needs some relaxation, and timing, but benefits are easier distance, shallow divots, more assurance. (and less torque on relatively simple swings)
