Briarwood Golf Club (Broadview Heights, OH)
Briarwood Golf Club offers a classic, scenic local round with a layout that has undergone significant changes over the years. Readers accustomed to the wide-open 27-hole footprint of three decades ago will notice a distinctly different golf experience today. Residential development along the front nine has prompted a thoughtful rerouting of several holes, weaving play through rolling, hilly terrain that tests both club selection and shot placement.
While the layout tightens up front, the back nine provides a bit more room to breathe with more open corridors. However, golfers playing a full round should keep pace and dynamic turn conditions in mind: because the course does not currently utilize an active starter or marshal on the back, local players occasionally join in directly on the tenth tee, which can sometimes create minor delays or unexpected gaps for groups making the turn from the ninth green. Overall, Briarwood remains a solid, accessible venue that rewards strategic play on its undulating front nine and offers plenty of enjoyable scoring opportunities on the back.
Take the kids to putt-putt instead.
No starters, no rangers , abundant weed growth as far as the eye can see. I think they cut the greens the prior week. Two 5somes in front of us. If this was a restaurant it would be closed as a golf course it should be returned back to nature.
Great staff
Cart paths were a little rough but the staff was super friendly and accommodating, course was challenging, layout was unique, and we had a really great time golfing. Highly recommend!
Terrible course
The course was in horrendous condition while the pace of play was absolutely terrible. Only a matter of time before it’s turned into a housing development. Definitely one of the worst courses in the area.
Course wasn’t in good condition at all
Pace of play was not great, sat at each tee box for like 10-15 min waiting for groups to tee off (I understand you can’t do anything about that). But the tee boxes were very dry and cracked all over. Fairways had weird brown splotches all over it where parts were wet and others were do dry it looked like a dessert. Staff were very friendly and kind to us. For the price we paid, the course was in horrible condition and it wasn’t worth it.
Going downhill
Unfortunately this course has not been taken care off in a long time. Paths, greens,, and fairways are a disaster. Although not the courses staff fault, but a foursome of 100 year olds would not let us (twosome) play through. A ranger would of been helpful.
Greens and fairways in poor condition
The change in layout was very nice, but the greens were in surprisingly bad shape and only due to lack of maintenance. There were divots everywhere. There was clearly some irrigation issues which led to brown out in the fairways, but that can be fixed. I will be back, but I hope they give the course a little bit of TLC.
Needs some work!
The cart paths were borderline treacherous!
The greens were not well kept. Money needs to be put back into this course to keep people coming back.
Yikes
Played this course plenty last few years but first time this year, all I can say is that the greens need serious attention along with the cart paths. If you’ve played any course that fairways management is involved with, then you know the condition of the course.
It was just okay
Workers on every hole.. In decent condition. I’d play this course if I had no other choice to golf…
A honest review
The staff is extremely nice and the amenities are honestly solid. But it is in extremely rough conditions. Cart path is a joke, Way too close to houses, it’s literally playing in so many peoples houses. Do NOT play this course if you have a slice. This course needs a lot of repairs and redesign. I would not play that course again.
