Course was unplayable
It rained heavily the day before and to day. Corse was inter water for the last flooding for the weekend before. Hopefully it wove ok keep for Tuesday and rest of the week.
Rough shape
Tee boxes choppy at best
Greens were patchy, slow and overall just awful
greens were aerated
normally a good course but greens had been aerated
End of shore season
Price finally right for a county course. In decent condition.
Slow Play
I started play at 2:10. For the first six holes there was no one in front of us. Then we caught up to two very good women players who were stuck behind a very slow foursome. The women bailed after the 10th hole. We waited on the slow players then skipped 16 and 17 , played 18. Rick (ranger) was super nice and told us slow play in the afternoon was typical. Will try again in the morning.
This course has great bones. Unfortunately every time I play it is backed up by 4 and 5 carts due to players not understanding rules and there is no one to monitor (hitting multiple balls, slow play, searching endlessly for errant balls,). It is almost impossible to play through with this many backed up carts.
Another afternoon at the shore
the course is challenging, greens were very good. Overall it could use a little TLC, cart paths, yardage markers, etc.. It has the opportunity to be an excellent facility.. I have played it many times and would still recommend it.
Greens were very rough.
Not a bad course but $90 is very steep for the conditions. Cart path is like an old abandoned road. Greens were chunked up all over.
Pricey but fun
Price was a bit steep for the slow going on the front 9. Had to wait a few minutes to tee off at every hole but as we progressed it opened up. Don’t know it was because people got tired of waiting or just dropped out. Finished in 4 hours. Was expecting 5+ due to other reviews I read. Greens were great. Fairways were cut and groomed and the water feature was cool on 10 and 11. Staff were friendly and willing to help out. Don’t expect a cart girl. Think they were just running food to players who called it into the bar. Got paired with a couple gentlemen that knew the course well so that was an added bonus. Would play here again maybe when “Local” summer starts and “LBI prices” goes away. Overall great time out.
Very little grass to be found
Played in the afternoon after a very heavy rain the night before. The women in the pro shop and the starter could not have been nicer.
Tees went in the ground very easy in the box due to rain the night before. Course had dried out enough that we were able to take our carts on the fairways.
The biggest problem we had all day beside the incredible slow threesome in front of us was finding patches of grass to hit our balls from. It did not matter if we were in the fairway or the rough.
The cart paths were so full of potholes it was almost unsafe to ride on them.
The good news was the greens were receptive and in good shape. I am sure rain the night before was very beneficial.
The course was NOT worth the $81.00 per person charged.
