A nice walk, a fun course.
I played on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. I’ve played the East course and found it to be challenging golf and a challenging walk with pretty severe elevation changes and I was told in comparison, the west course was like a baby sister, short and a bit uninteresting. So I was surprised instead that, although relatively short at 6100 yards from the back tees, it was great fun. The first 3 holes are very wide and forgiving off the tee, but the course narrows and by the 12th hole it begins to expose elevation changes with plenty of towering pines. I found the greens to be generally in good shape and pretty quick, though a few were just mildly spotty.
The course can be played anywhere from 5400 to 6100 yards, so it’s fun for intermediate players yet challenging enough for a more advanced player. I look forward to playing it again.
Many times playing this course
The West side is “easy” in the sense a few holes on the front are more of an executive style course, but the back, and the greens, especially on hole 15, 17 and 18 are brutal. Good luck putting this if you’re above the joke. I’m a 5.5 HC and personally, hole #16 is the toughest in Portland.
Great all around!
Celebrating their 100th anniversary this year. Great facility and well-run operation. Guys in pro shop are great, starters friendly, and everyone playing just enjoying the day.
Played both courses for first time. West is very much the less demanding course. East course tighter and harder. Both courses had fantastic pure/fast greens.
What else can you ask for, kudos on 100 years Glendoveer!
Laid back course.
This is an intermediate course that is flat and no water on the front nine. Great for a relaxing morning round. It is a well run city course with a friendly atmosphere.
very good overall
Everything was smooth and weather was very pleasant and dry.
Hot time
I’ve played in this course many times and although the temperature was 100 degrees, I couldn’t feel it on the course with all the trees and the breeze. The only drawback was a few characters playing bumper cars with the carts.
Glendoveer West
Decent public course- fairly easy in ok condition. Greens were good. Some of the fairways were pretty dry. Played on a weekday- pace of play was good. Easier to get a tee time here than some places.
