This is a good 9 hole course. Water comes into play on a few holes. Good variety of short and long holes for good iron practice.
Ok par 3
This course had some interesting variety with each hole based on where you choose to tee off. The holes are all pretty narrow with very long grass in the fairways. The greens are bumpy making putting a challenge. Staff are very friendly.
Great 9 hole course
Great 9 hole course. My first time here but certainly won’t be my last. Some challenging holes and some easier ones to keep things interesting.
Colwood Par 3 Course
Having played other city courses like Heron Lakes and Rose City I was surprised to see how poorly maintained Colwood is considering it is a par 3 course and requires little in the way of maintenance. It is also a poor layout compared to what it was as a regular course- quite disappointing. Weeds everywhere- even some on greens, where some type of disease has taken over many of the greens and left big holes. It is also more expensive than the privately run par 3 Sah ah lee in Clackamas which is in much better shape.

Poorly maintained Par 3 course in NE Portland- Colwood Golf Course
Having played Colwood when it was a privately owned public course but 18 holes. I was very disappointed to
See how poorly designed and maintained it is as a short 9 holes course by the city of Portland. The scorecard is not even correct- a couple holes that say they have blue tees do not. Most of the greens have a very significant disease that creates holes in the surface of the greens. The greens are also cut to be very slow. It is meant to be extremely easy with no sand or water and the holes so short that more than half are under 100 yards. There are many weeds throughout the course and tees and some on the greens.
There are no benches on the tees and pace of play was extremely slow the day we played: about 2hours 10min
For a course that shouldn’t take more than 1:30-1:40 since it is so short. One other issue- the group in front of us had 4 players playing out of one bag. There was a starter who allowed them out. I and my friends won’t be back.
If you want a par 3 course- try Sah ha lee in Clackamas.
disappointing experience
Course was in very bad condition. No amenities, other than overcrowded driving range. Won't be back anytime soon.
Sponge greens
The greens are so soft that ball marks are hidden and unrepairable. Your ball will go for a bumpy slow ride on the way towards the cup. Thought it would be a good place to practice but the conditions aren’t suiting.
The range is nice, if you want to hit off a mat that will slide forward two inches every time you hit the ball.
So much potential, just need to set the bar a little higher.
Date night
:) my wife and I had a blast. It was a great place to spend time together.
Perfect short game practice track
Course was in excellent condition. Greens held nicely, incredible to hit off grass from tee boxes and pace was fine on a weekday morning. Staff and mtce crews were friendly and welcoming. Most certainly the best $18 (deal price) I’ve ever spent!!
great practice course
Course has wonderful practice area. Greens in good shape. Fairways chewed up with divots.
Awesome day!
Beautiful weather and great course conditions! Had a blast!
Par 3 review
Course is fun to play BUT the greens are unrealistic. They need to be mowed. Very slow and bumpy could be nice but they need to mow shorter.
