Presidential at Hickory Valley Golf Club

Conditions were horrible the grass was so high you’d think there was a tour event! The tee boxes are weeds and there were so many trees down! The group running the two corses are just in it for a cash grab!

I’d go to twin ponds,landis creek or Linfield national for the same money but way better track to play

Played the course months ago and it was in better shape. We played on a Friday back then and not a lot of volume out there. Played the Saturday of Labor Day weekend and we were 2 of maybe 5 people out there playing at 12:30pm (hot deal). We zoomed through the course which I love but the writing is on the wall. The tee boxes were all crabgrass and dirt. No signs of a tee boxes under construction. It was after a lot of rain and those courses don’t drain well but the rough grass was high and the course didn’t looked like it’s being maintained. I will not be back there this year to play. I hope they survive because the Presidential side does need a lot of love and the Ambassador side I quit years ago. The staff there I will say are great but they out numbered the golfers on a nice weather holiday weekend??

Played the Hickory Valley Ambassador course. From heavy rains to a lack of attention or money the course was in horrible condition. The green were okay but the fairways were poor and the rough was US Open high. Two 18 hole courses and 10 cars in the parking lot. Hope improvements are coming.

Have played both this summer multiple times. Ambassador is a wreck. Mud/dirt fairways, awful tee boxes and extremely mid greens. Just not worth the money. On the other hand. Presidential is super pure. Fun track and difficult. Good greens fairways in decent conditions, but the rough could be thinner.

Other things to note:

Pro shop guys were very polite and friendly. Returned my q-zip as I was pulling out.

18 birdies (A) does work (P) is the ambassador course. Not sure what up with that but have had multiple people all have the same problem with 18 birdies.

I played there a lot many years ago and the condition now is definitely worse. Slow greens, lots of weeds on tees and around greens, bare spots everywhere.

The good- nice layout- fairly wide open- good value only because I booked through golf now

The Bad- most of the tee boxes were not tee boxes- they are moved up because of the weed overgrowth. A course this old should not have neglected tee boxes. Some of the fringe of the greens has disease patches.

Overall I liked the course and will play the Ambassador side next time to try that side. Hopefully they restore the courses tee boxes

The course is in nice shape overall but the tee boxes are terrible.

For the price, the overall condition of the course just isn't worth it. The tee boxes are mostly dirt patches, the fairways are in rough shape, and while the greens roll true, they look more like the surface of the moon. I was pretty disappointed with the course conditions and expected a much better experience for what I paid.

Course is in terrible conditions for the price they are asking for. Absolutely ridiculous how they are asking for $65+ on a course in total shambles. Won’t play here until they lower price or improve conditions

I have played this course in the past and always remember it in really good shape. But the round I just played almost every tee box the grass was dead. And on on of the holes could not even use it due to the number of ground wasps that were swarming around. Needless to say it will be quite sometime before I play here again

Really like his course and the people that run it a very friendly. We got here early and could go right out, clearly a light day. Fairways were in very good condition. Bunkers, well some were raked and nice while others need some attention (sorry, but if they don’t maintain them I don’t play them when they are hard pan). Tee boxes?well it looks like some fungus is attacking because many of them were poor condition. Got to about12 and the course play just slowed way down. The foursome in front of us were slow, but they couldn’t go anywhere because the group in front of them were ridiculously slow. By 15, we had enough and called it a day. Driving through the groups it was evident the cause as there was nearly a two hole gap between groups. Could have used a Marshall reminding them to play a bit quicker. But it was a gorgeous day and barley pops and dogs had are name on them. One hour later as we drove away, the group that was in front of us was still putting on 17!
