Snack shack
Father’s Day weekend played on Saturday evening tee off at 5:40 just a twosome. Get on the third hole at a twosome playing behind us. Hacking the ball like crazy right in front of our tea box like they own the place driving all over the fescue alarm beeping like crazy on the golf cart more than once as they wrote our tails the whole front nine hitting into us three times and told us to shut the F up their Members whatever that means. We were too simple on a foursome and we were 25 minutes ahead of pace. Nobody was playing slow. My partner and I were not losing balls. He was one over and I was 2 over after nine. Get to the turn and the snack shack is closed.?? sunset at 8:33 PM the time we got to the snack shack was 7pm . The course backed up pretty bad starting a number 11 so my partner I decided to go out and tell number one again we played the front 9 again in less than an hour.
Pace of play is miserable
Slowest pace of play I’ve ever been a part of, they pack tee times in every 10 minutes. Expect 5+ hour rounds on the weekends.
Other than that it’s a nice course
Disgusting experience.
I have always loved this course and it’s always in great shape. My experience today was horrible. The people in front of us were grossly rude and disturbing. My ball was picked up multiple times by multiple different groups throughout the round. I watched them do it. The pace of play was an absolute joke I could not believe it. The staff need to change the tee times to at least 15 minutes in between. For a golf course that is very nice and fun to play, they are not making it enjoyable. Very disappointed and will be relaying this message on to most the people I know who golf and come to this course.
Another Donald Ross Gem
Played here while visiting Philly for the 2026 PGA Championship. We were pleasantly surprised it is a Donald Ross design and it shows, with the decision making needed and good course management a plus. The course was easy to walk and provided nice pull-carts for reasonable fee. Staff was welcoming and friendly, informative. No practice range but large practice putting green. Fairways were wide enough, rough was punishing. Greens rolled true and semi-fast. It was windy and there were enough direction changes such the wind was not hurting on more than 2 consecutive holes. I rate this up there with Glen Mills as my destination public course when visiting Philly in the future.
Rental Clubs
Do not, I repeat, do not rent clubs here.
For $50, I got a cheap dirty set of 10 Walmart clubs. I repeat, do not rent clubs here they suck.
The rental set came with no towel, no tees, no balls and no ball Repair tool.
Go to Walmart and buy the same set.
When you’re done, donate them to charity.
You will be better off.
Beautiful Course Fast Greens
One of my favorite public courses to play. The course was in good condition, and the putting was challenging. The staff was friendly and courteous.
Bonus was that I won a hat by hitting the green!
The only negative was that the course was crowded as always, and while we kept up with the pace of play, the group behind us hit into us.
must play
This a Donald Ross design that is a rare true public course. Great variety of holes and a superior routing. Not overly long (6,400ish) from the tips but you need to chose the correct club. The greens are, in some areas diabolical. This is old style all the way. The conditions were very good. Congrats to the powers that be for restoring and revitalizing the course. It is a treat to play this course. It is well worth it to play this course.
5hr round is not fun watching the couples group hit 2-3 balls on each Tee and seeing nobody in front of them. Then when we get to the 11th hole 4 groups are waiting as everyone getting drinks or food. Should have order system thru cart so everyone is not waiting. Course is in beautiful and in great shape. Greens are toughest ever putted on. And whoever put the pin placement on 18th hole on 4/24 woke up anger and took it out on the golfers.
Nice day
It’s a small course with a quirky layout. The staff were great helping check in. There’s gps on the carts and that’s nice with a display of how your time is going. At one point we were 49 minutes behind and never saw a ranger. It was a good deal with golf now and the conditions were good
Great Course
First time playing this beautiful course. Why did I wait so long? Took a long drive over from NJ and was totally worth it. The course was in great shape. The greens were very challenging. Could have used a ranger to nudge along a few slow groups in front of us. Wonderful day. I will be back.
