Disappointed
We are from out of town and visit the area a lot as our daughter lives in the area. I had also read about this course as being the best in Baton Rouge area and was really looking forward to playing Santa Maria but came away disappointed. The course layout is great - one of the best I’ve played. Unfortunately, the course condition and the grounds crew were subpar. Mast of the greens have areas lost to a fungus and a id say 2-3 of them have large portions lost to it. Bunkers were also in poor condition as they hadn’t been groomed. However the part that was most disturbing for me was the grounds crew. I’ve never played a course were the grounds crew had less regard for th players. On a number of holes the crews were driving around on carts without any regard of us playing. We had to sit and wait on them to move on. One of them was driving his cart around the collar of the green looking at the bunkers while we had to sit and wait - probably 2-3 minutes These delays would have been ok if they were working on something but none of them ever stopped and worked on anything - just were looking at things while we waited. Overall, while the layout is great, I won’t be looking to play it again - think Cooper Mill in Zachary is a much better place to play.
Greens are dead an no water on the course
Greens are baked out and dead in terrible condition, and in the Louisiana heat they have no water refills out there? Insanity for $65 a round
Good Value
Fairways were in good shape. Bunkers need work but overall course is in good shape and a good value.
Fun golf course
This is a fun golf course to play. There are a lot of water hazards and sand traps. The Course winds its way through a very nice neighborhood. Lots of beautiful homes.. It had rained the day before so it was cartpath only on the day we played. I would imagine that this course is extra beautiful during the summer months. I would definitely play it again.
Mostly excellent
The entire course was in great shape aside from a couple greens under reapir.
Nice Course
Very nice public course. Great value for seniors, very friendly staff.
