Golfer Reviews
Fun layout
Enjoyed playing the course. It was in good shape considering the dry weather. The only challenge was the dense rough. Not that is was hard to hit out of, the problem was it ate balls. Perfectly good shots would disappear into ball heaven to never be found. Very frustrating.
4 hours 40 minutes for a round slow play
Overall good experience, but 4 hours and 40 minutes is too slow
Other than pace of play......
Been a couple years since I have driven up to play here. I would say overall it was worth it at the $50 GolfNow rate. We were told when teeing off that pace of play was at 4 hours, 15 minutes and rangers were monitoring. Our round came it at nearly 5 hours while we waited on every tee and fairway on the back nine. Other than pace of play, course was enjoyable. My next visit might be during the week when it may be less crowded.
Nice layout with a links style feel
First time playing there....My partner had a little trouble reaching the green in regulation from the red's She believes that the yardage was mostly paired the same as the golds overall. So it played much further than the card showed. Fun course and great pace at 4:10hrs for the round
Slow golf play
Golf course in good condition nice layout only problem is you have spent over five hours to play a round of golf.
Ranger Ranger Will Robinson!!!
The course is under new ownership and you can tell the sand traps were in great shape as well as the bunkers which were in needed repair from last year. It was evident that the previous owners did not want to invest more money in any improvements. The course has those goofy smart carts that warn you that they will disable the carts if you get to close to certain terrains which force you to reverse the cart. Warning they are very sensitive toward distance. The course we enjoyed and highly recommend you to play and I will be back. However 2 weird ranger episodes. The starter will give each 4 some a 10 minute introduction to the rules of the course, the expected time of play.... This was fine but a bit unnecessary. You do not have to justify your role to us and I was not the only one to make this comment. Now the one ranger incident is the one I am still scratching my head. If you play any course on a Sunday you can expect a death march of waiting on several holes especially par 3's. It is the nature of the day of the game and why I try to go out early on a Sunday if I can find a single opening. I can not ever remembering playing not just the front nine but also the back nine and not seeing any golfers in front or in back of us which was phenominal spacing. I attribute that to the starters 10 minute speech. So when we make the turn to the 10th tee is when Ranger Rick with clipboard in hand questioned our start time. When we told him when we started he scolded us for being 30 minutes behind schedule. I asked what hole were the golfers who were playing in front or behind us, We saw no other golfers all day and now he is accusing us of slow play. Well the foursome in and front of us were 2 holes away and the foursome behind us were 2 holes behind us. What difference would are time make if we played faster. So my only complaint is of the rangers and not the course. Ranger Beware!!
Green conditions and rough
The greens were in good condition considering all the divots not being repaired. Also there’s a lot of players that need to learn to pick their feet up when walking on the greens or invest in some shoes without spikes.
The rough could be a little shorter after all it’s not the PGA Tour.
The course was fun playing except for the pace of play.
Good condition but very slow
Course was in good condition especially considering all the recent rain. However, the pace of play was so slow. This slow pace will keep me from coming back.
Slow play & poor bunker. Conditions
The starter told us pace of play was 4 hrs. Turned out it was 5 hrs. We saw rangers driving around , but never said anything to the group in front of us, they were a hole behind,
Bunkers are terrible, I understand that they were working on updating the bunkers, hard as rock.
Wasn't worth the $80.00 green fees
Reviving the Whisper Creek
This used to be a very nice golf course years ago, roughly 18-20 years ago. Due to poor maintenance & neglect it lost its charm for many years in the recent past. However, the new management is working hard in restoring its beauty and once again this golf course is in great shape. I enjoyed my round a lot.
This is a course for advanced players.
The layout of this course is extremely beautiful. This is an extremely long course. And of course, in the day we played it seemed like every hole we played was into the wind. The car pass on the course are extremely bumpy. They are in need of repair. There were also bridges that you will cross where there’s a speed limit on those bridges. If you are a long hitter, and if you are used to elevated greens, this is a course you may want to try for the challenge. The layout of the holes it’s extremely interesting.
The ranger is correct. You should keep pace with the group in front of you. I'm surprised I have to tell you that.
