Olympia Hills Golf Course
About
Olympia Hills Golf Course is very exciting and enhances San Antonio's reputation as a golf destination. A unique combination of natural topography and man-made mounds and bunkers make this a super course. Native South Texas vegetation and golf course grass seed formulations on fairways and greens will provide state-of-the-game playing surfaces. The views are spectacular, with several holes playing to greens well below the tees, while other lead to a significant rise to reach the putting surface. Fairways, which on some holes are tight, are often sloped and guarded by bunkers. The tips will not be played by the faint hearted, but with four sets of tee boxes, the course can be enjoyed by all levels of players.

Front 9 was great!
My first time there and there was a night tournament on the back 9 so I was limited to running the front 9 twice. There was construction going on so 3 holes in the front were shortened to short par 3s. Bitter sweet cause I’m from out of town and I would have loved to take in the whole experience of the course 1-18. The layout was awesome!!! Fairways and tee boxes were in great conditions but the greens were full of divots!
You know, these things happen, but they should be addressed...
So, I've played many times at this course. All of the rains that tore through San Antonio in April are now requiring some work on the course. The bunkers are being resanded, new turf is being added, and some of the tee boxes are closed. I get that. Course maintenance needs to happen. Not my issue.
My issue is that my cart died on the 17th tee, and no one answered the phone at the pro shop. So the marshall on course came by and instead of ordering me another cart to finish my round, he loaded my clubs in the back of his utility cart and took me to my car. No offer of another cart, no rain check, nothing. I get he is the marshall, so no harm. However when he dropped me off I did see the lady that was working the pro shop standing there. I told her my cart died, she asked what cart number, I told her 31, and expected something to be said or done. Instead she dismissed it with "yeah, a lot of carts died." And walked off. I was so angry with that response that I left and won't be back. A golf course should depend on returning golfers and this is not how to treat anyone when your business is dependent on people coming to you. So be it..
Under Construction
The course, when is in good shape and not experiencing a large majority of construction around the course is enjoyable to play. But the reduction of yardage on 5 holes, construction equipment and noise, and the added hazards from landscape changes occurring at overlapping times soured the overall experience.
Olympia Hills
I thought it was deceptive to have this course advertised as as a full golf course. Several par 4’s had tee boxes under “repair. So a lot of the par 4’s were 120 yards or less with one being 84 yards. makeshift tee boxes with woman’s seniors whites and blues all together. All this while full construction/sod/bunker/course changes were being done. My ball hit a tractor in the fairway a role of sod in the fairway and back how. You guessed it. In the fairway. A little unfair to charge and advertise it as a full functioning course
Room for improvement
Went Friday afternoon for a round. Very friendly starter and Marshall, our cart had some issues and without hesitation they had it swapped for us.
Areas to improve: We saw the cart girl at the first tee box and never again. We called the clubhouse multiple times and nobody answered. Course conditions are rough right now due to multiple large areas being renovated. It will be nice once it’s done but paying $80+ to essentially play on a construction site is a little steep.
Overall course is decent, greens in good shape, the staff we did see were nice. Will be back in the future to give it another shot.
Will be good…
As of May 2026, the course is under a lot of maintenance, of which we were unaware when booking. Two Par 4 holes were required to be played as Par 3 due to tee boxes renovations. We had to dodge earth moving equipment around the greens, wait for mowers to finish, and grounds keepers keep frogging us through the first 5 holes parking 5 ft off the green while we tried hitting approach shots. Not ideal. At all.
However, when the maintenance is complete the course is really nice in its layout. Every hole is unique with beautiful views. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. Greens a bit slow but nice. We may go back, but only if after checking with the pro shop.
Olympia Hills
Played this course with my son. The other players and staff were very friendly. There is quite a bit of construction going on with the course. Can’t wait to see it when its done. Overall the course is in excellent shape.
Course Fee Too Much
Played on a Sunday morning and considering the renovations and certain holes that had tee off alternatives. I think we paid too much. I would like either discount or a free round there once the renovations are complete. Thanks
Under construction?!
We have played Olympia Hills many times but I had not been there in over a year due to surgery’s. I was deeply disappointed that neither GolfPass nor Olympia hill’s mentioned that the course was under construction that affected play on 40% of the course. AND, they had the audacity to charge full rates!
Well run courses let the public know when they aerate their greens but major construction you don’t mention? Shameful.
I won’t be back for quite a while because they are not very close to being fully operational.
Better than most
A lot of work being done to improve course, but it was still in great shape. Didn't finish last 3 holes due to rain. Would love to play again.
Course was fun and in good shape.
Green were spotty but putted fine. They are doing upgrades around the course. It was challenging and fun to play. All staff was nice and knowledgeable.
Scheduling Issue
Started about 30 minutes late due to high school competition. Greens were not conducive to putting with a plan. Small interruptions in grass moved ball off the line and speed a few times.
Marshalls and Starter were excellent. Layout was fun and carts worked well.
Construction
The course was in good shape. Lots of construction will make the course better when it's all complete.
Rude rude rude
I walked in, was ignored for minutes while the staff situated over a couple buying a bag or whatever! Once I was noticed, the guy was rude from the beginning, I told him my tee time, asked for a bucket of range balls, sbd when he told me the total it seemed off, so I asked if he had applied my booking fee, and he start telling me that that it done through a different company and they were not related et …..so I showed him my confirmation and he could care less! Guy was a jerk, did not listen to a word I said, including when I asked how to get to the range & he told me how to go to tree 1!!! NOT COMING BACK!!! Plenty of courses that don’t cost as much, and I don’t have to deal with people like this, also the course was in shambles had numerous bunkers that had warnings to not enter them!!! The cart guys, starter, beverage girl and restaurant staff were all very nice and helpful!!! Too bad the jerk at the front was my first impression!!!
