Olympia Hills Golf Course is very exciting and enhances San Antonio's reputation as a golf destination. A unique combination of natural topography and man-made mounds and bunkers make this a super course. Native South Texas vegetation and golf course grass seed formulations on fairways and greens will provide state-of-the-game playing surfaces. The views are spectacular, with several holes playing to greens well below the tees, while other lead to a significant rise to reach the putting surface. Fairways, which on some holes are tight, are often sloped and guarded by bunkers. The tips will not be played by the faint hearted, but with four sets of tee boxes, the course can be enjoyed by all levels of players.

This course is challenging and so much fun, fun, fun

I am so glad that I played at This course prior to the resort course the following day which was lack-luster. Kudos to the grounds crew and sup. The course is in excellent condition and the greens immaculate. The pace was slow but when you are having fun, that doesn’t matter. I will definitely choose this course again and recommend to friends.

Up and Down

Course was very up and down lots of hills and valleys. The construction being done on the course was a downfall but looked like a needed thing. I would like to come play this course again after they are finished with the upgrades.

Very nice course

This will be a top rated course when renovations are complete. Fairways are lush and green. Greens were in excellent shape. We started at 7:00 am and didn’t see anyone in front or behind us. Unfortunately due to renovations, #2 was closed and #8 & #9 both par 4’s were both playing as par 3’s. Great elevation changes made course a little challenging but great layout and views.

Bad Course Conditions

Many fairways were under repair and had large sections roped off. Most bunkers were also under repair and roped off. Lots of dead or bald spots in fairways, as well as mud patches from construction equipment.

Love This Place

This is one of the best courses in the SA region . I like the atmosphere and the fact that the marshal kept the place of play up and the cart attendant was present on both side with 2 different attendants! I ate at the restaurant after a great round with great green! The food was awesome and the price didn’t break the bank! I will definitely be back multiple times this summer!

Pace of play

Drove in from Houston for stepson birthday. He loved course but pace of play after 7 holes terrible. Finally talked with Marshall and he said a twosome cut in front of couple of foursome and he caught it to late. We were waiting 10 minutes on each tee box. Great course just couple of knotheads not having respect. Actually had to quit after 14 so we could make dinner reservations

Great course but….

Great course but it’s under construction which wouldn’t be a problem if they priced it accordingly. Paying the same price with 2 holes virtually unplayable is a bit ridiculous. Overall great course. I’m sure it will be amazing when the construction is done.

Course is under construction

This course is currently under a major reconstruction. All bunkers are not playable and some of the tee boxes are closed and shorten.

First time playing course.

The lady taking care of confirming tee time and taking payments was very pleasant and very helpful in briefing about the course since this was my first time. The same applies to the marshal on the course. The tee time in the evening meant no delay and the opportunity to play alone. The condition of the course and greens was fine and and very playable. My thoughts and suggestions are as follows: It seemed like the distance readings on the cart were somewhat less that the distance appeared to be. However, as an alternative, it has been nice to play on courses that have 100 and 150 yard markers which seemed reliable. There are many locations where the fairway grass dramatically ends and goes to deep and thick vegetation with little chance of finding the golf ball when the ball is only one to three feet off the fairway. Just too thick and unsafe to have a chance of finding the ball in a couple of steps. Can the initial few feet be cut regularly to 5 to 10 inches to give the player at least some chance to find the ball?

All in all, I think you are doing a good job with the course while not over pricing. I do not play golf more than 1 to 2 times say over 6 to 12 weeks and was pleased to discover Mt. Olympia course which is about 15 miles closer than others that I have used over the four years I have been living in Texas. Keep up the good work!

Nice Course (Under Construction)

The holes that were available were awesome. Holes 8,9 and 12 were under construction and the temporary set up was not great in my opinion). Overall the range, staff and amenities were top of the line.

Front 9 was great!

My first time there and there was a night tournament on the back 9 so I was limited to running the front 9 twice. There was construction going on so 3 holes in the front were shortened to short par 3s. Bitter sweet cause I’m from out of town and I would have loved to take in the whole experience of the course 1-18. The layout was awesome!!! Fairways and tee boxes were in great conditions but the greens were full of divots!

You know, these things happen, but they should be addressed...

So, I've played many times at this course. All of the rains that tore through San Antonio in April are now requiring some work on the course. The bunkers are being resanded, new turf is being added, and some of the tee boxes are closed. I get that. Course maintenance needs to happen. Not my issue.

My issue is that my cart died on the 17th tee, and no one answered the phone at the pro shop. So the marshall on course came by and instead of ordering me another cart to finish my round, he loaded my clubs in the back of his utility cart and took me to my car. No offer of another cart, no rain check, nothing. I get he is the marshall, so no harm. However when he dropped me off I did see the lady that was working the pro shop standing there. I told her my cart died, she asked what cart number, I told her 31, and expected something to be said or done. Instead she dismissed it with "yeah, a lot of carts died." And walked off. I was so angry with that response that I left and won't be back. A golf course should depend on returning golfers and this is not how to treat anyone when your business is dependent on people coming to you. So be it..

Under Construction

The course, when is in good shape and not experiencing a large majority of construction around the course is enjoyable to play. But the reduction of yardage on 5 holes, construction equipment and noise, and the added hazards from landscape changes occurring at overlapping times soured the overall experience.

Olympia Hills

I thought it was deceptive to have this course advertised as as a full golf course. Several par 4’s had tee boxes under “repair. So a lot of the par 4’s were 120 yards or less with one being 84 yards. makeshift tee boxes with woman’s seniors whites and blues all together. All this while full construction/sod/bunker/course changes were being done. My ball hit a tractor in the fairway a role of sod in the fairway and back how. You guessed it. In the fairway. A little unfair to charge and advertise it as a full functioning course

Room for improvement

Went Friday afternoon for a round. Very friendly starter and Marshall, our cart had some issues and without hesitation they had it swapped for us.

Areas to improve: We saw the cart girl at the first tee box and never again. We called the clubhouse multiple times and nobody answered. Course conditions are rough right now due to multiple large areas being renovated. It will be nice once it’s done but paying $80+ to essentially play on a construction site is a little steep.

Overall course is decent, greens in good shape, the staff we did see were nice. Will be back in the future to give it another shot.

Will be good…

As of May 2026, the course is under a lot of maintenance, of which we were unaware when booking. Two Par 4 holes were required to be played as Par 3 due to tee boxes renovations. We had to dodge earth moving equipment around the greens, wait for mowers to finish, and grounds keepers keep frogging us through the first 5 holes parking 5 ft off the green while we tried hitting approach shots. Not ideal. At all.

However, when the maintenance is complete the course is really nice in its layout. Every hole is unique with beautiful views. Fairways and tee boxes were in good shape. Greens a bit slow but nice. We may go back, but only if after checking with the pro shop.
