The land that now provides a home to Quarry Golf Course was formerly the abandoned Alamo Cement plant. Keith Foster converted this unique location into a challenging layout with a links-style front nine and a back nine that plays entirely through an abandoned rock quarry with walls over a 100 feet tall on three sides. The first half of the golf course features plays through open fields of rolling hills with native grasses and a near absence of trees. Creeks and streams come into play on six holes of the front nine. The quarry pit on the back nine is truly the most unique feature on the golf course. Quarry Golf Course's most dramatic hole is the 17th, which requires a tee shot over a deep ravine that is framed by a 40-foot waterfall.

Review

Pace of play was terrible. For the amount of money to play the course it is unacceptable. 2 marshals/starters passed up a hole with 3 groups on it and 2 waiting to tee off. They did nothing to speed it up . Should never take 6 hours to play a round of golf .

Great Course for the Cost

The layout of the course was challenging and fun to play. The course was in great shape. Pace of play slowed down at the turn probably because of the views. I had a wonderful time with the players I was on the course with. Only down side is you had to buy balls to warm up at the range.

Always a fun time.

Played 3/31 and greens were in good shape. Rolled true and decent speed. Fairways were nice, tee boxes had just been aerated but still in good shape. Cart girl swung by 3-4 times. All around great experience as always.

Slow Play

5+ hour round...They had a tournament in front of us and play was VERY slow. Had to wait 5+ minutes on most shots. The Quarry is really a classy place but this was not one of their best days. Also, the course was extremely dry, only days after drenching rains. The greens were very hard and not receptive. High approach shots didn't result in ball marks. Quarry, you can do better!

Great course!

The course was amazing. The Pro Shop was also great. Only complaint is pace of play. Over 4.5 hours on a fairly short course. I am starting to think it is a San Antonio problem.

Spectacular Setting

Playing The Quarry was a real treat. Pricey but majestic views and in excellent condition. Despite some rain and a thunder/lightning delay, the day was quite memorable. Challenging for sure.

Nice Course

I enjoyed the course, pace of play was pretty good. For February it was in pretty good shape, good enough I may return. Expensive in my opinion for overall value. Back side was the better of the 2.

Great Way to Reclaim an Old Pit!

I really enjoyed this course. Although smack in the middle of town it’s still very scenic with the layout around the Old Quarry.

Not great!

Arrived 1 hour before tee time, did not get a golf cart until we were about to start, which meant we had to hike our bags under the bridge up the hill to Hutton the driving Rebecca’s you weren’t allowed to hit drivers on! Once we walked back to check the third time, sbd told that there were still no carts, we gave up sbd just waited…. Pace of play wax gone for the firing 9, we had to play the 18th in the dark, because we were literally calling for 15 minutes waiting for the groups ahead of us… The outside cafe area was closed by the time we got to the 10th hole, had to go inside, the beverage girl came by one time and was helpful! The staff although completely disorganized.ed were very polite and nice, they just were not given the tools to be successful, too bad it s nice place, also 1 of the 2 bathrooms were closed and not fir cleaning, closed closed!!!

My favorite in SA

By far my favorite, considering the price, the course layout and the location. What an awesome course, there is a good variety of holes, some you can maybe reach and some you have to layup on. I especially love how the course occupies the old stone quarry! Almost a little bit of a links style but that’s never been a problem for me. The greens rolled well for being February and the pace of play was good, played in 4 hours flat on a Sunday.
