Old Brickyard Golf Course
About
Some argue that the tricked-up golf course has no place in today’s game, but they might change their mind after visiting the eclectic Old Brickyard. As the name implies, the course lays out in and around an old brickyard, featuring dramatic elevation changes, blind shots, and some unbelievable, almost impossible holes. This is one you’ll want to play just to say you’ve seen it.
The opening holes are pretty basic as you traverse northward before turning into the meat of the course, where the dramatic elevation changes start wreaking havoc on your club selection. After about the third or fourth hole, every hole seems to have some unique feature.
The Old Brickyard Lake comes into play on holes 9-11, some of the most difficult holes you’ll find anywhere. After you limp homeward suffering near-disasters on the tricky par 3 No. 8, which plays over water and seems to drop about 5 stories, and the demented 9th hole, which features a funky tee shot and challenging approach over water to a difficult green, No. 10 is not a welcome sight. Hole 10 plays from an elevated tee box, with water along the right. Water comes into play on the next two shots as well, since it cuts across the dogleg-right fairway. If you’re struggling, this is a double-digit hole for sure.
There’s no real break after No. 10, either. The 13th requires a precision short iron to a tiered green. More surprises await as you finish the round, so be prepared. The yard is a fun day of golf.
Getting there : Take I-45 south from Dallas to Ferris, then exit 267 and continue down the access road to the entrance on the right.

Very, Very Challenging Hole Photo submitted by fryersroost on 05/08/2013
Greens
They’ve lost their greens, they are majority dirt. Hole 5 they’ve put in a temporary green on the fairway. They seem to be short handed when it comes to workers
Worst course I have ever played
Tee time was 10:06 on a Saturday. 82$ with a 40 count warmup bucket of balls.
The guy in the shop ran through everything wrong with the course before I even paid which was kind of odd. Looking back I wish I would have listened and left.
Every single green was dirt. Not dried out grass, literally dirt. On hole 5 they shorted the whole and made the green out of the end of the fairway. Ironically, best green on the whole course.
Stopped at the turn for a hotdog. All cold. Was given attitude when asking why they were cold.
Not going to beat a dead horse.. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME. Go anywhere but here. Throw a hole and flag in your local field and you’ll have better conditions.
By far the worst conditioned course in Dallas
I was not expecting amazing but for the price and the rating on this app I was ashamed to take my father in law here. The fairways were fairly nice to be fair. But every green was in horrible condition. The guy at pro shop said the greens on the back nine are in great shape but I feel he said that only to make sure people keep playing. At the turn I went to get a hot dog on the roller. They were refrigerator cold. When I told the guy I am not going to get it now, he grabbed the bun from my hand and hurled it in the trash like I offended him. Way over priced and they must rely solely on rain water for the greens.
Overpriced and very poor conditions
Greens were terrible, little grass and mainly dirt. One hole had a temporary green. This would have been fine but the rates were not discounted at all. The practice green was closed for putting. We were stacked up 3 groups of 4 by the 2nd hole. The layout was great with lots of elevation, would have been great if it was a little cheaper of the course conditions were better.
Don’t play
Anyone who gives this course a decent/good review, doesn’t know golf. Greens are literally unplayable. Hole 5 green is just shut down and they have the hole moved to the fairway. Overcharge for a course that you can’t take a 3ft putt seriously on.
Brickyard GC
Consistently a solid course, greens could use some work, everything else is not too bad
What a fun course to play
Had a great time playing this course. It is getting green and beautiful. The course has some very challenging holes, the greens are rolling fairly true after being aerated. So very soon these greens should be awesome, the crew there has worked hard to get them right. Some of the greens are a challenge on their own based upon where the pins might be placed. The course is also working on a par five resulting in a temporary green in the fairway. Should have a 2 putt max rule. This will not ruin your day and I did see the cart girl multiple times. I will continue to enjoy playing there. It has as much fun and challenge as anywhere but fits my budget better.
The "Greens" were not usable
Played this course several times and it is an OK course for the money. However it looks like they just completely neglected the greens because they are all dirt and Poa. So it's either dirt or little weed all over.
The putting green by the club house was also closed because it was in such bad shape.
Saw the cart girl once. No bartender inside.
Overall there are so many other courses around for the price that are better.
Old Brickyard
Loved elevation changes fairways in good condition greens were in terrible condition. If they get the greens in order, I will definitely recommend but not if wind is blowing out of the north.
Great fun course
Awesome course with a great layout and fun use of water. The par 3 8th across the pond and the par 5 10th around the lake was great and challenging. Green conditions were quite poor, but were still early in the season. There were no marshals out, but my two-some this morning was able to finish our round in 3.5hrs. Not very busy, and super friendly staff. I’ll definitely be back even though it’s a bit of a drive.
Greens = Atrocious
The greens need Jesus and a lot of TLC. Everything else is fine for the money being paid. But very hard to look past the greens when every putt being hit is galloping/trotting like a horse.
Love the course but
Greens have gotten away from them. Love the slope and how challenging some of the shot are but then get let down once I get there. Would still play again and recommend, just hope to get a good putting surface and it would be a top course
Horrible greens
I just wish I hadn’t spent $228 to take my family from out of town to a course where the greens were better for grazing goats.
Challenging course
Old Brickyard’s layout is a nice challenge for an average golfer. A few blind shots and some elevated tee boxes on par 3s. Greens were in decent shape for the most part. Food at the clubhouse was similar to that of a convenience store. Hot dogs weren’t ready so we had to microwave some burgers that were pre packaged (made our stomachs hurt). If all you care about is playing a challenging course for a good value, this is a good option.
