Country View Golf Club
About
Ron Garl came to Lancaster, Texas in 1989 to build Country View G.C., a truly unique course. No. 7 is the most difficult hole -- a long dogleg right with water in play off the tee and in the fairway. Also, get ready for no. 15, a unique par 3 that features a green completely surrounded by huge trees. Most of Country View's tee boxes are elevated and there is water in on over half of the holes.

Good Value Golf Course
This course was a unique layout but all the grass was dead when I played it. Not sure if it’s like this year around but the only positive thing was the greens were all green and had a decent roll to them. Most of the lakes out here were dried up and looked like they haven’t had water in them for years. Overall the golf course was fun to play and when I played it you can’t beat $27 dollars for golf with a cart. Would like to see more green grass on this course but maybe in the summer time it’s gets a little better.
Great staff and well upkept course with amazing greens. Would recommend to anyone!
Good Course for the Price!
Hole #7 was under maintenance so it was confusing getting around the course. Greens were in great condition and were fast. This is a great course for how cheap it was. Pace of play was horrendous though, lots of beginner golfers in front of us shanking them into the woods so round took a long time.
Wasn’t pleased
If you’re looking for a 7 hour round this is the place for you. No marshal to keep pace. Tee times stacked like cord wood
Expected course to be in better shape based on reviews.
Challenging course.
You pay for what you get for
That was gonna be my first and last visit. I will never come back here the carts don’t have coolers the course don’t have cold water cooler , rough is terrible, The lakes are dry.. some greens are cut and well maintained other… are below average.
Carts don’t have score cards and are dirty.
No cart girl either… the pace of play is crazy they will put walkers in front of you … you can’t bring your drinks either so …
To be fair 2 stars.
Good, not great
Greens and fairways are really nice. I just felt the layout was odd. Cart paths and scenery was pretty low/mid. Rancid smells on a few holes from standing water.
Wanted: greenskeeper and engineet
The bad: really spotty greens with tufts of wire grass everywhere and ruff edges on most holes, and a bridge that has been out for years so take an extra beer for the cart trip. The good: very interesting layout and out in the country feel. Something of a shot-makers course with some holes that need a very accurate distance and many that are unforgiving in errant shots, lots of elevation and rolling fairways. Suffering from the dry conditions but hanging on for late season.
COURSE NEEDS HELP
First of all, the course is under maintenance on home 7, and is now a 100 yard par three. No big deal. But 6, 8, and 9 are also par 3s.
The shape of the tee boxes is atrocious. I've never played a course in worse looking condition. The tee boxes are covered in dirt, and some appear to not have been returfed within the last couple of seasons.
The fairways are fine, the greens are slow, and green side has lots of old bunkers that were sodded or just let to grow. They must have had an ownership change in the last couple of years, because the current owner clearly couldn't give a rats behind about this place.
The driving range is just as bad as the tee boxes. Not even mowed, beat to the dirt roots, and clearly isn't cared after. For $10 a small bucket, you can hit off some unmowed crabgrass and three inch brumuda. Will never return to this course.
Under construction
The tee boxes are full of weeds and bare spots. The fairways are in fair conditions. The greens have recently been punched, so forget about getting a good roll. Hole 7 is being reworked so you have to back track to get to the provisional tees that is in a rough area. Maybe in the future it will be in good shape.
Country View Golf Course
Fairways and greens are well-maintained. Overall, it was good. We joined the back nine after lunch, and the guys behind us called a marshal and complained. That’s nonsense.
An okay course - good greens, bad tee blocks and some areas need attention.
The course was okay - one hole taken out, tee blocks in bad shape and need levelling. Greens in good condition. Not a difficult course and there was virtually no-one there so pace of play wasn't a problem - finished in 3.5 hours. Guy in the Pro Shop needs to smile :-)
Tough layout
Awesome course with challenging elevated greens . If taken lightly you will find yourself in all kinds of trouble. A must play
Good Value, Challenging Course, Unique Layout
I enjoyed playing this course. The layout is actually pretty unique. You do not get to use your driver much since the course is on the shorter side, and even the longer holes usually have a creek or a dogleg that makes it tough to hit driver.
The greens were in great shape. Most holes are fairly open and seem to favor right handed golfers. I did notice there were a lot of spots around the greens and tee boxes that could use some weed control. It made finding your ball a little annoying sometimes, but it was not a big deal.
Every green is elevated, so you really have to pay attention to your short game. Bump and run shots do not really work here. You need to get the ball in the air with some spin, or it will just roll off the back and down the hill.
I do not remember seeing any sand traps anywhere on the course.
