About
Greatwood is known for its white sand bunkers and impressive par 3s, three of which play right at or over 200 yards. The 1989 Carlton Gipson design features elevated tees and greens that sandwich plush fairways and are contoured with mounds.
The 434-yard par 4 hole 5 is one difficult par, featuring a fairways loaded with bunkers and involves water on the approach. No. 18 goes 576, yards. While the tee shot is fairly standard, the second shot must land short of a plateau and might involve a blind approach shot if placed too far to the left. The intimidating approach plays into a green surrounded by water on three sides.
Getting there : From Hwy. 59 south, turn left on Crab River Rd., then make a left onto the other side of Hwy. 59. Look for Greatwood Pkwy. and make another left when you get there.

Golfer Reviews
Challenging and Fun
Overall the course was in great shape. The sand traps were rough - very hard but it wouldn’t have mattered if I had stayed out of them.
Definitely have to play smart golf on many holes. Makes us better golfers not just hitters.
Great Course
Nice Course! Looking forward to another round there asap!
Suffering from Dry Weather
The fairways, greens and tee boxes were very hard - like couldn't stick a tee in the ground hard. The grass in the fairway was fairly bare, this lies and hard ground. To be fair, it has been very hot and dry, so hopefully, conditions will improve with rain. The signage is pretty dilapidated. No beverage/snack cart. No cooler on the carts. I think there are coolers available inside, but not by the time we made the turn. Driving range is pretty bare covered in mostly nutsedge.
Great course for the money
The grains are in really great shape. Fairies are pretty good, but the price is amazing for what you get.
Slow pace but fun. Wish it was had longer par 4s but I should also move back to the blue tees lol
Nice course, good value
Nice layout, greens were in good condition, plenty of water stops to hydrate. Excellent value
Good Greatwood
Very good course and a great value. I always enjoy playing at Greatwood.
Greatwood continues greatness
Greatwood is a fun and challenging course. If you can challenge this course back it’s great for the handicap. Kelsi at the front desk is lovely. She’s accommodating and a pleasure to chat with. Course conditions lately have been solid. Greens are slippery and difficult so beware! Sand bunkers could use attention.
Play Smart
Course was in good shape. A few spots were pretty hard and a few bunkers were like concrete (stay out and no problem).
There are a few holes that you better pick your club wisely as a good drive on 10 will be in the water due to severe downslope. 17 you better stay right on the high side - if you are left even thinking it was good you probably lost it due to the slope.
Course makes you play golf and it is still fun.
Always a Fun Course
Love the Layout and the challenge of this course. I wish they would enforce players sanding divots and repairing pitch marks. I must have repaired up at least 10 pitch marks on every green.
Give it a try
I haven’t played here in over 4 months. The fairways and greens are taking to the recent rains and in great shape. The traps are still rough but for the money you won’t find a better course. Layout is a great challenge!
