About

The Ocean Course is one of two championship courses at Kona Country Club. As its name implies, this course has an oceanfront location with views of the surrounding mountains that are home to its sister course, the Mountain Course. The Ocean Course provides an easier, but no less enjoyable round than its sibling. The layout features wide-open fairways and numerous strategically placed sand bunkers. The turquoise waters and black lava outcroppings provide natural hazards. The signature holes are the third and 12th, but one of the most memorable is the 13th hole where during November through March, you can catch a glimpse of a humpback whale. While both Kona C.C. golf courses provide a variety of challenges, the Ocean Course is a gentle, more player-friendly option that still features the same stunning views as the Mountain Course.

The course is well worth the money spent. The staff is also very friendly. This golf course has beautiful views and the fairways are in great shape. The only thing I feel not so perfect is the green needs to be pressed alittle firmer.

We knew they had punched the greens recently, but I’ve never seen that much sand on the greens. Totally unputtable.

Location is great if you are staying in Kailua-Kona

Aloha! This was my go to course as I have been playing it yearly on my yearly visit to the Big Island. The course is fading slowly as the greens are in poor condition with a lot of bare patches. Green side bunkers have unusual thick 6imch rough along the borders. Play it only with a Hit Deal at $64. As full price of $160 is NOT worth it. Tee times throughout the Big Island have really gone up so you need to choose wisely. They spiked the greens on the Sept 14th, after which it will not be playable for some time. Aloha

Kona CC is a Fun Course with Friendly Staff

We were looking for a last minute round of golf that we could get in before our 8pm flight and decided to play Kona CC. Overall this was a very fun golf course, somewhat short with some unique holes and elevation changes. Condition was good on fairways and rough, however the greens were very good and rolled pure! Green complexes were all very slopey and tough to read speed up and down hills. Staff was amazingly kind, and made our experience enjoyable. Overall for the money it was great value compared to the resort courses
