Good course, overpriced compared to other green valley options
Course was nice, but the pro shop charged me about $10 more than what golf now said I'd pay at the course. Then they charged $6 for range balls which they said would be waiting on the range, when I got up to the range there were a total of 10 balls left. My takeaway was that it's a nice course in good conditions, but far overpriced for what it is.
Great layout & greens were consistent. Finished in 3 hours on a Saturday! Clubhouse staff were friendly and helpful.
Always in good shape
Course is in good shape, expecially for this time of the year. Fun layout, can be challenging.
Got it together
My last review was about the course leaving thatch everywhere. Well, I’m pleased to say, they got it together. The course was in great shape during this round and I’m looking forward to returning. Kudos to the grounds crew!
First time, newly relocated to Lake Dow. Considering Membership
Course layout is very good, challenging but fair. Considering time of year, fairways and greens were very good. Cart paths need extensive work. Carts are newer and excellent with electronic tracking. Pro shop is fine, small bar was fantastic, prices were really fair. Jessica is a treasure. Only gripe and it’s a big one is pace of play. There were 2 foursomes ahead of us on a wide open day that were pacing 4.5-5 hours. Players lacked any golf etiquette whatsoever, parking in front of greens and tallying scorecards while still in the way of the next group. Unfortunately we did not see a Marshall the entire round. If they fix that, I would join in a flash, it’s very close to being a great semi-private.
Course Needs a Blow
I play this course often. However, the past two times, the course has been littered with heavy thatch. The course needs to blow this grass from the fairways, fringe and the over two-inch ruff. This is not typical for this course. At the conclusion of my previous round here, I asked about this and was told, “the guys just haven’t had a chance to get to it yet.” Well, it appears that they’ve decided not to do it at all. It’s extremely frustrating to lose balls or have to take extra time to locate a ball that often times, simply rolled into the ruff from the fairway. This could account for the very slow pace of play.
Pristine conditions
The course is in great shape. The greens were being sanded, but still roll good. It's a very challenging layout.
The meaning of worth
Extremily disappointed with the management of the golf course when I played it. I was looking forward to playing a nice golf course with my son as we had travelled from Florida to play to hang with my family. I chose Georgia national because in GolfNow as I saw that the reviews seemed okay. Needless to say I booked the course thinking $85 Saturday at 9:50 AM I am in it. From the outside the facilities look nice. Not so much when I got closer. First thing I noticed, majority of the golf carts had holes in the seat. Secondly, I looked over the practice green, and I noticed that it was aerated. This got me upset because I would not have not booked this golf course at that price, and I traveled over an hour to get there. They should have communicated to the golfers about the punched greens. They are willfully deceiving their outside nonresident golfers because they’re not letting anybody know about the aeration, while making people pay full price to play at this course that was unputable.
Pristine conditions
The course is in great shape. Look forward to playing it again soon.
Probably the best course I’ve played all year. Was able to get an early tee time. Around Covington early times go so quickly you can’t hardly get them. I would say the greens are elite. Super fast, incredibly smooth, & in immaculate shape. Fairways in great shape & the rough was tall enough to affect the shot enough to be a slight penalty. Only knock I could put in was the back 9 bunkers weren’t raked. All the front nine bunkers were machine raked and easy to predict. I will be going back several times this year. Georgia National will find a permanent spot in my course rotation
Great course at a reasonable price
Really liked this course. Greens were fast and consistent. Fairways and traps were in good shape, as were most tee boxes. Only thing I didn't like was that two of the three par-fives weren't really reachable in two unless you're a major risk taker. At $50, it's a great deal. Will play there again.
Review
Little slow play… wish there was a Marshall however course is in condition and the value is worth it
Ga National
Played a round after rain that morning. Soggy conditions but still a good course and would play again
Not welcoming
The pro shop staff were quite rude to multiple people checking in to play. Would not return.
