Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club
About
Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club sprawls across a scenic landscape of native wetlands, an abundance of hardwood trees, and a generous smattering of meandering creeks and sparkling lakes. The beautiful terrain sets it apart from other golf courses in the Atlanta area. The course is known for the numerous grass-walled bunkers filled with pristine white sand that are strategically placed throughout. The player-friendly greens are wide and approachable, but there is the occasional multi-tier to watch out for. The generous nature of the greens also allows for a variety of pin placements. The natural features of the landscape at Crystal Lake Golf & Country Club not only provide beautiful scenery but they also make for a more interesting game since they require you to get creative with your shot-making, especially when trying to figure out how to handle some of the tricky carries.

Always ready for golf !! Photo submitted by moorem815 on 07/22/2018
Crystal Lakes is looking good!!
First time playing Crystal Lakes in a long time. Enjoyed the entire experience. Staff was professional and courteous. Make amends for the disabled!!! Range was in good shape… I hit off mats. A little backed up on first tee box but once it got flowing we were good. Cart girl notified us both cooks were out…. However snacks and beverages sufficed us. Will definitely be back
Golf Gem
Awesome course. Well kept hidden gem. Will definitely be back.
Truly is a hidden gem
The write up on this course describes it as a hidden gem and it really is just that. Played at 2 PM on a Saturday and the pace was great. Every green was perfect and all fairways played with great runout even after a light rain mid round. Can’t say enough about the general condition of the course. Didn’t see any issues at all anywhere. I didn’t have time to stop and enjoy the grill room but it looked as great as the course and had a great crowd late on a Saturday. I’ll definitely be going back and surely would recommend to anyone looking for a place to play on the south side to give it a try. Five stars for sure.
Great Course
The course is in great shape and the greens put great!!!
Great course
Course in great shape. Fairways are beautiful. Greens in great shape and rolling very nice. If you get off the fairway it a little tough finding your ball. Course is in best shape that I have ever seen it in
Challenging layout but fun to play
Its a pretty Challenging layout from the blues but lots of fun to play.
Great Course
Will definitely be coming back. Great greens and fairways.
Fantastic course
First time out and I thought the course was fantastic. Greens were rolling true, fairways were in good shape, and it was a good challenge but not overly impossible. Great deal and will go out again!
Excellent Course
Although it was the day before Labor Day, the course was fairly empty and afforded great pave of play. This is one of the most well maintained courses I’ve ever played. Beautiful layout, whereas most holes are dead straight. Scenic course which wraps around Crystal Lake and winds through a beautiful subdivision. Great course for both experienced and novice golfers.
Tee layouts
I’m a senior and played the green tees, along with my wife who played red tees. Very convenient because they were close together. Very long and demanding course.
South of Atlanta Golf Course
Played course by myself in 3 hours. Never saw a group infront of me except where the 4th and 8th holecart-path cross-over, and it was other two separate singles. This course is one of best maintained courses I have played this year . From the Tee box to the greens to include traps , I was very happy with the conditions. I found very very few divots on the greens and most of the divots in the fairway had sand in them , so its apparent members are doing their part in helping to keep this course in great shape.
The greens are fairly easy to putt, very little movement as there are no rolling / two-tier steep slope greens to contend with.
The layout is more beginner friendly than most until you get to the Hole 14. This hole is by far the most challenging as you have to hit a 250 yd drive from the Blue-tees and try to keep the ball on the far-left with a fairway that slopes significantly left-to-right to even have a visual shot at the green on your 2nd shot. ( I played it in 3 shots as my tee-shot was 235 yds to the right, with no real chance to go for the green)
The higher handicap holes are only because of shear distances not obstacles or challenges.
From the Blue tees: Hole 4 ( 426 yrds) and Hole 6 (467 yds) are par 4's, while Hole 8 ( 488 yds) is a par 5, which is a mear 21 yds longer than one of the Par 4s.
Blue Tee total yardage is 6,443 yds and the Whites is 5,943 yds. Big difference, so maybe alternating a few tee-box might be a better fit for some golfers.
Shot an 84 at Crystal Lake, which boosted my ego after 4 bad rounds in the hi-90's at other golf courses.
Good course, very slow
The course was in great condition. The round took five hours because there are several holes that are cart path only which slowed things drastically. Also be warned the course does not loop around to the club house so you will not be able to get food at the turn. We only saw the cart girl once and she only had chips and candy bars available so by the end of the hot summer day with no food and a five hour round I was exhausted. But again the course itself was in great shape.
NEXT LEVEL
Tremendous improvements in one year. The greens, tee boxes, and the sand traps most of all are drastically improved. It was easy to reflect on the resort courses on Hilton Head. In other words, the experience is worth the cost.
Very nice course!
For the price, practice balls should be included. Also, the pace could have been better, but all in all it was a very nice course!
