About
Situated on Chicago's scenic North Shore, Lake Bluff Golf Club has become a "must-play" destination in the area. First opened in 1968, the course has a classic layout with front and back nines that are very different. The front nine provides a gentle start. The terrain is mostly flat and the holes are straightforward. As you move onto Lake Bluff's back nine there is more up and down and consequently the challenges are greater. Don't get too comfortable on the first half of the golf course because you'll need your wits about you for the second. Trees line the narrow fairways and the tricky greens all slope in one direction or another. Accuracy is essential. Water doesn't come into play but the doglegs and strategically placed bunkers provide plenty of challenges.

Golfer Reviews
first time
First time, but not the last. Played tuesday morning. Good pace, finished in 4 hours in a threesome. Greens were good, a lot of ball marks were not repaired but that's more on players and not the course. Fun time, recommend.
Treat Patrons Better / Stop being greedy
Beware of poor management, attitude, and additional charges when using a rain check. For around $70 per person, there are far better golf courses with better conditions and much better customer service.
Used to really love this place and would play here a couple of times a year, but unfortunately, I will no longer be going back or recommending it to friends.
I received a rain check from last week and returned to play my remaining nine holes. We had originally paid full price for two people with a cart for 18 holes, yet I was charged an additional $13 to use the rain check. When I asked why, the manager’s response was essentially, “Just because.” The interaction was dismissive and extremely unprofessional.
I’ve never experienced a course charging more to honor a rain check, especially when the original round was already paid for in full. I also couldn’t find anything about this additional charge on their website or on the rain check ticket.
It’s disappointing because I genuinely used to enjoy playing here, but because of the poor customer service, I won’t be back.
Quirky, ok, not great
The layout is pretty good. The conditions are ok, with very spongy greens. The first time you go, it’s easy to be confused about where to park and where the golf shop is. The biggest problem with this round was when we made the turn and found two foursomes on the 10th tee who didn’t look like the group ahead of us. In fact, they were supposed to be 32 minutes ahead of us. They had lunch inside (hard to imagine why at this place) and supposedly were told they could just go to 10 whenever they wanted! We found a ranger to help, but it still delayed us at least 20 minutes in an already slow round.
Pace of Play
Course was in decent condition. However after playing front nine in 2:40 we arrived at 10th tee box with 4 groups on tee. Nobody at course sees to pace of play. I will never be back.
Fortunately golf now refunded my back nine fee.
Ack nine
The back nine have a couple of holes that have water / flooding issues. For the most part, you can play around those areas affected by flooding,
My other concern was slow play. From what I was told, the pro shop normally book tee times seven minutes apart .. This is what probably caused the course to back with slow play.
Disaster
Whoever came up with 7 minute tee time intervals must not be a golfer. 2-3 groups backed up on every tee box. 1 hour to get through the first 3 holes. 2:35 for the front. The Starter admitted it was impossible with the way they overpacked the course. This steals the joy from golf, and ruined a perfect August afternoon. I had to go in after the front and ask for a refund for the back. I will not be their sucker.
Solid Course!
Nice course, very well maintained! Pace of play was a bit slow for a Thursday. I’m not positive but tee times could be every 7 minutes which would be insane. Otherwise I enjoy playing and staff is always friendly.
Reserved a round with a cart. Got to the course and it’s walking only
I reserved the round on golf now with a golf cart. Got to the course and it’s walking only. Not getting the $5 I had to put down to reserve the tee time that I didn’t play. It’s not my problem you don’t update the site. Do better
Nice
First 9 or 4 was slow pot, but ranger came over.Fix the problem and finished all the courses in four hours. Paper denies the nice courses.Part three is very long throughout three out of four , but I'd like this courses nearby my house and steps up a different friendly
Pace was painfully slow
At our tee time there were two groups still needing to tee off in front of us. We had an inexperienced twosome as part of the foursome in front of us. No one was out there moving them along. Took 2 hours to play the first five holes and there were three groups waiting to tee off on 6 in front of us as we came off 5. Hank goodness the twosome only played nine holes. Love the course and conditions and staff that we came across.
Great course and staff
Very nicely maintained course. Staff was over the top friendly and helpful. Definitely return.
