Foss Park Golf Course
About
Foss Park Golf Course has a convenient location in North Chicago that is an easy drive in from the city. It's a public course that is known amongst locals for being one of the area's best golf values. The layout is wide-open save for three holes that are framed by towering mature trees. The golf course strikes a good balance between being challenging and playable. The fairways are narrow and demand accuracy but the massive greens are more forgiving. Each hole offers a variety of different playing options, which makes the course appealing to a wide range of skill levels. The golf course has plenty of sand, plus water hazards come into play on several holes. There is also a driving range and large practice putting green available at Foss Park G.C.

Fun, Simple Course
This course was simple but entertaining. It used a decent amount of doglegs, tight fairways and thick forest to up the challenge level. The course was also in good shape. This is not a difficult course but you can certainly use it to improve your game and it is fun enough that I would play again.
well time spent
course in good shape, well organized from registration to tee off. Staff is professional and still friendly. Pace of play is reasonable. I have fun everytime I play here.
I paid for cart but did not get one.
I paid for a golf cart and did not receive one because of weather. It rained the night before. I asked for a discount but because they said I booked it through golf now they said I would have to contact golf now.
Foss Park is a great course and a well-run machine. The staff and the staff are friendly and professional. My only knock on them is waiting until 10 minutes before getting key for a cart due to some golfers teeing off before assigned t-time. Hoping this will be reconsidered. Otherwise, a gem of a golf course in North Chicago, IL.
Nice course but one major issue.
I have played this course many times. It's a decent course with an interesting layout. The main issue I have is they make you leave your drivers license with the pro shop to rent a cart. The rationale I have been given is so keys are returned and carts are not stolen. No other course I know of ever does this. It's a rediculous practice because who remembers to get their license after 4 hours of golf? Even the woman in the pro shop admitted many people forget to get their license. So of course it happened to my friend today. Now he will have to drive 1 hour back to the course to retrieve it. I will most likely never return here. Not worth the risk.
teeoff times not honored
A large contingent of players were allowed access to the first tee and given preferential teeoff time despite that fact that some of us had earlier teeoff times. Instead of allowing the correct times to tee off, our only option was to skip the first hole to get ahead of the crowd.
Weirdly hostile staff
From the starter giving us a hard time because he misinterpreted our receipts to see all four players were accounted for, to the cart return guy literally swearing at us, every staff we encountered was very hostile and off putting. Enough to offset the decent pace of play and conditions for a Saturday morning. It was a good value but I will not be returning because of the poor taste left in my mouth by the staff.
Great rule for cart
Arrived 30min ealier but,
Cart will be issued 15min prior to tee times.
No ecxeptions -per management.
.You can bring your own golf bag to putting green to practice -per management.

.If you have lower back problem do not play golf -per management.
.You have two options - play or give up. Have a good day my friend -per management.
Great Value course
Super well kept course. Solid tenures and greens. Mixture of open and tight fairways. Nice range and practice green.
Foss Park in May
Trying to implement a new process where no carts are made available until 15 mins before tee time. Not sure what caused them to try this but it isn’t really a good or practical policy - especially when they have a starter available to manage the first hole start
