Foss Park Golf Course
About
Foss Park Golf Course has a convenient location in North Chicago that is an easy drive in from the city. It's a public course that is known amongst locals for being one of the area's best golf values. The layout is wide-open save for three holes that are framed by towering mature trees. The golf course strikes a good balance between being challenging and playable. The fairways are narrow and demand accuracy but the massive greens are more forgiving. Each hole offers a variety of different playing options, which makes the course appealing to a wide range of skill levels. The golf course has plenty of sand, plus water hazards come into play on several holes. There is also a driving range and large practice putting green available at Foss Park G.C.

Great value!
Course was in good condition, staff helpful and an overall good value!
Much Improved
Course in excellent condition
Club house upgraded and stylish
Much more organized and professional atmosphere.
Course upgrades as well
Really enjoyed our round of golf
Great value, but slow pace
Course was in great shape and looks to be improving given the construction (which only impacted one hole). Course is very forgiving. Staff do not seem happy to be there, but I didnt need much from them. All in all I'd return to play if in the area. The only complaint is the tee times need to be spaced out much more. The starter didnt have a good handle on the day and probably made matters worse. My 806 ended up being 820 due to shuffling singles. But that equated to 7-8 minute slots. 12 would be make matters much better.
Great value
First time playing Foss Park and probably will return because it’s a great value. It’s very playable and still has some challenging spots and variety. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens are in good shape, and there were no cart restrictions even after recent storms. Pace of play was good on the front 9 and terrible on the back. The routing can be confusing, so it could use some signs pointing to the next tee.
FP 06 2026 review
Things have definitely improved. New tracking device installed and carts are closely monitored now with assigned numbers. One major recommendation is to have starter prevent players in golf carts from “hole” jumping randomly from not being patient enough to wait during play.
Very annoying!
Good price for the value
I paid about 45 dollars with a cart on a Sunday afternoon using golfnow hot deal and it was definitely good value.
The Foss
I have been playing this course for years. They have made noticeable and appreciated improvements. They have replaced their golf carts with nice new ones with GPS. The greens are much truer and a little faster. Overall, I feel like they are really trying to up their game and I will be back soon.
Great course at a reasonable price
Always enjoy playing here. The conditions were very good and the new golf carts with GPS were really nice.
They won’t give you your cart until 15 minutes before your tee time which I thought was strange. I guess it would make sense if there was no starter in order to control the 1st tee , but there was a starter so I don’t get it.
Prices are up for a rough environment
Took over 5 hours to play 18. The price has gone up since last year. For a course that takes your ID when you book a cart the price should have stayed the same.
A hot dog took 15 minutes to make at the turn.
This is not controllable by the course but there was a party at the park district next door and it was extremely loud with music being played and people screaming the entirety of the round.
The course is great! Huge parking lot. Friendly staff! Only 2 things needs a bit of improvement and that it is the landscaping of the course. Seems like the grass was cut but the batches was left there . And there’s no ball cleaner at any hole
Fun, Simple Course
This course was simple but entertaining. It used a decent amount of doglegs, tight fairways and thick forest to up the challenge level. The course was also in good shape. This is not a difficult course but you can certainly use it to improve your game and it is fun enough that I would play again.
