Golfer Reviews
Unique, interesting course
Unique layout that is beautifully maintained. Rough is punishing and each fairway is lined with numerous mounds that create difficult lies. Pace of play was excellent and city views from the course are lovely. Tasty food ended the day on a high note. I will return and I highly recommend avid golfers give Willow Hill a try. It will be well worth your time.
Feels like you’re in a different state
The views from up on Willow hill make it feel like you’re not in Chicagoland anymore. That is, until you actually see the skyline of Chicago in the distance. The tall rough makes it highly rewarding to stay in the fairway, and the distances of the holes make you have to think very strategically. Greens are a tight target with many bunkers to be aware of. Overall a fun way to experience links play
Great links course
This is a links style course. Greens are very sloppy and fast. Great value. Great staff. Grass driving range. Holes are very close to each other is the only down side but don’t let it discourage you. I will be back.
Playing Willow Hill
I played Willow Hill golf course for the first. It is a Links course that had been recommended to me. I figured I would give a try. I was impressed by the course being built on a past landfill. Great use of the land.
I had walked the course and found it to be very hilly.
For me, this was a one and done. For those that enjoy playing Links style golf course, give it a try.
The price is right.
Nice 9-hole that can be very slow
As a neighbor and member of a local private club we love to enjoy some of the local public courses, Willow Hill included. I write this in the hope that a possibly great asset to the neighborhood be improved and can be successful.
Bright spot is the woman who greets us most times in the Proshop as was the case this Sunday evening. She’s great.
The putting green is in need of help and I assume it is a work in progress but some additional attention to repair the goose damage that likely had been there all day would help first impressions.
The course was clearly backed up as we couldn’t tee off sooner than 10 minutes or so after our tee time. We finished the 9 holes 2:35 hrs later which was pretty frustrating as a 2some but must have been rough for the 3some and 4some behind us that waited the same 5-10 minutes on every tee and approach shots that we did. Somehow a ranger needs to get out there and address the obvious offenders.
As a result we won’t be back this year.
We’ll be back next year for the kind Proshop attendants, the much improved bunkers(!!) and the beautiful views, landscape and shadows cast at sunset mostly visible from the elevated 9th tee. (Please address those steps before next year!! -maybe an Eagle Scout project?)
Thanks and good luck!
Hole in One
I got my first hole-in-one on hole two. A beautiful morning and a great course!
Challenging with a great patio bar and grill
Very challenging 9 hole course with a great bar and grill.
Very rude staff
The course starter was very rude and disrespectful. Threatened to kick us off the course for taking a second shot on the first tee, with nobody waiting behind us. Very unprofessional.
Great for a quick round
Great for a quick round. Very nice outdoor bar and views of the city.
