I have a personal bias towards older golf courses, and Bellwood hit all of those sweet spots. The tall trees, elevated greens, and thoughtful use of the topography made for a very enjoyable round. And the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful (for being Vikings fans).
PACE: Thank you to the 4some that let a single play through when there was room ahead. And thank you to the ranger that took me from hole #10 to hole #15 to get ahead of a slow moving "outing." I didn't request this assistance, and it was necessary. But the staff at Bellwood was very thoughtful and I appreciate that.
CONDITION: Tees... good. Greens... good. Bunkers... good (unfortunately I know this all too well). The course seems well maintained by staff and players.
STAFF: Amazing. Friendly. Helpful. Above and beyond. Thank you!
VALUE: I think this course is probably priced right where it should be.
LAYOUT: I took a cart for this round, but would walk if I ever play here again. There are some hills but nothing overwhelming. The trees will be a challenge if you find yourself in them. The course winds perfectly through the terrain and was a lot of fun to play.
Go play this course.
Beautiful day for a walk:
Course was in great shape even with the storm a week ago or so. Tee boxes, fairways, greens were all in great shape. Course is generally very flat, maybe two hole with hills. Could be walkable. What the course lacks in hazards it makes up for in distance, wish the Gold tees were
shorter. Red tees are only 5,000 yards and Gold tees are 5,900 yards. I suggest they have a composite of the two on their scorecard. Other than being a 30 mile drive, I could play it more often. Everyone in our group was very pleased!!
Back with an old friend
I do not get to Bellwood Oaks enough. It is an hours drive from where I live and it was so worth it. The course is in the best shape I have ever seen it, not a single complaint on that front. Greens rolled great, fairways were perfect and the rough was healthy and fair. The staff was friendly, a shout out to the lady in the beverage cart. Very friendly and getting to everyone on the course. We play on a Sunday morning and played in 3 hours and 40 minutes. I hope to be back soon.
Rainy 4th holiday
Enjoyed he location even in the light rain. The course is very pretty with lots of birds and deer. The staff was pretty friendly and it was clean and well managed. The holes are long with a challenge. The greens were in good shape. I thought it was a good course and will be back -when it’s a nice sunny day.
Beautiful course
Beautiful course, friendly staff! Driving carts have a geo fence, so stay on cart path or you'll get random beeping to move. LOL.
Hidden gen
This is a course I play a few times a year always in good shape. I always look forward to my rounds played here.
The course was in great shape!
The course was in fabulous shape considering the drought conditions. You can tell that they take pride in their course. I can tell that they water the course unlike many courses that seem to let them go. The front nine played a little slow, but it picked up on the back nine. I thought it was going to be a five hour round but only ended up being 4 hours.
Fathers Day full of birdies🦅
Jennifer of the Saff is great. Wonderful experience, the total package was a win!
