Coore-Crenshaw bringing new golf course to Big Cedar Lodge near Branson, Missouri

We're still three weeks away from the Big Cedar Lodge Legends of Golf event on the Champions Tour, but Missouri's Big Cedar Lodge is already jumping into the golf spotlight. Recently on Golf Channel's Morning Drive, they announced the development of a brand new 18-hole course. The Ridge Course, designed by the team of Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw, will be the newest addition to the Top of the Rock par 3 course and Buffalo Ridge Springs Golf Course, as well as a new short-game course designed by Gary Player.

Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw joined Golf Channel's Matt Ginella on Morning Drive to discuss the project and how it came to be. In fact, Coore admits he tried to talk resort owner Johnny Morris out of it at first.

Owner Johnny Morris also visited with Morning Drive to offer his thoughts. Also, in a release, Coore had this to say about the unique piece of land they'll be working with in the Ozarks:

"When we visited the site on Buffalo Ridge, we were immediately reminded of some of the terrain we have successfully worked in locations such as Clear Creek at Lake Tahoe and Old Sandwich Club in Massachusetts. The raw beauty of the views, meadows and elevation changes will serve as our creative motivation to deliver a golf experience that matches the Johnny Morris' vision for Big Cedar Lodge."

Meanwhile, Matt Ginella offers his additional thoughts on the Big Cedar Lodge as an emerging golf destination.
