Golfer Reviews
Great conditions and a lot of fun
From the red tees, at least, this is a pretty easy course. That said, after the first two holes, the changes in elevation, blind shots, and some sloping fairways still "allow" you to get into some trouble with errant shots.
Although this is a public course, I think it is maintained by Firestone CC. The conditions are excellent, with tight fairways (for a public course) and fast but true greens, a real joy to putt on.
There were a lot of golfers out on this lovely day, but we moved along, with some short waits on the tees. Since I was a single I played with two other Golf Now patrons (the course won't reserve a tee time for a single), who were friendly, easy going, and good golfers, so that was a plus.
Since I don't live in Akron, I'm happy to have found an enjoyable course where I can play nine holes when I visit.
I should add that having played here a few times, I have encountered both helpful and brusque staff. So it depends on who's on for the day.
Unfriendly staff
The staff here was very unfriendly, and in some cases downright rude. They also scheduled several parties during the same tee time, causing for a delayed game. My overall experience here was poor and I will definitely not be returning.
Course was in good shape
Greens were really nice. Although fairway was pretty long and really penalized you if you hit it there but I’m guessing it was from all the rain the previous week and they couldn’t get to mowing it.
Excellent course!
Great for beginners and experienced players alike.
Great course, great price, easy layout.
Always love playing this course. Easier layout for beginner/intermediate golfer, open layout. Course is always in great condition. The pace of play was very good. Finished nine holes in 1.5 hrs. If you’re looking for nine holes this is a great course and usually great price.
Great Course
Was a great day and very hot. Course is beautiful and has water stations throughout to keep you hydrated. We loved it and will definitely be back.
Wonderful course in fabulous shape
First time visiting-certainly won’t be our last. With only 9 holes, we’ve overlooked this course, which was a mistake. Course was easily in the best shape of any played this year. Immaculate tee boxes lead to wide, lush, manicured fairways and greens that were amazing: quick, true, and in terrific shape. Pace of play was ideal-perhaps very hot weather kept some away creating a delightful pace. Staff was personable & helpful and clubhouse appeared to be well-equipped.
We’ll certainly be returning for a truly enjoyable round of golf.
Mid October Review
The Firestone Nine is a really nice nine hole course, it is not a short course. It very open, very few trees, only a few spots (like the first hole) where there is OB and only two hazards (hole 6 & 8). Even though it is wide open and few hazards, its not an easy course. Angled, narrow and elevated greens protect low scores on this course. The course was in great shape, greens were perfect and already punched.
Good value
Played this course many times. Staff is always friendly and accommodating. Course is not too difficult, nice for intermediate players. Would, as I have many times, recommended to others
October 1st review
Firestone 9 is a nice little public course that sits adjacent to the Firestone Country Club. It has a nice mix of holes, the worst hole is the first, short flat and boring, followed by a straight forward par three. But once you just to the par 5 third, it is a different course and stays great throughout. Great mix of fun holes, with a couple of blind tee shots. Minimal trees, but nice molding to frame the holes. good elevation changes, some kind of extreme.
The greens had been aerated, and were recovering niecely. Balls rolled pretty well, but were still quite bumpy. Everything else was pretty good. For a Sunday at 11, we played nine is under 2 hours, which is awesome.
Very Nice...6 Handicap.
As per usual, starter was a complete doosher. Never played here before, went to the actual Firestone clubhouse first (down the road) this place is called Hackers apparently. Ended up being about 10 mins late. Starter got smart about it, I said thank you sir and tee'd. Clubhouse was very friendly though. Course was super soft, felt true. $13 wj cart on golfnow. Although short, very fun to play. Pace of play can get ridiculous considering there are only 9 holes. Especially if you have a 4some with three buzzed females pulling out the range finder every shot even though they hit about 15yds each shot. In all, make sure you're not in a hurry and have fun. Definitely worth it.
Late August, first time playing
The Firestone 9 is a nice nine hole course. It is public, but runs along the north course of Firestone Country Club. It is a more modern and open layout than the tree lined fairways of Firestone CC. For a par 35 it is a bit on the short side, 3000 yards. The course has a few well placed trees that direct shots and a spot to aim shots on blind shots
I played with my four year old, after several groups of senior twosomes. We waited for a 30 seconds to a minute on a half of the tees, and played in 1:45 approximately. Course conditions were good. With the lack of rain in the summer for Akron, it was firm and fast.
The course has family tees, played fast, always glad to play quickly. I am glad a had an opportunity to play it with my child.

This course is excellent when pace is good
This course is in excellent condition I love playing here, unfortunately 80% of the time it takes almost 3 hours to play nine holes
