Cooks Creek Golf Club

This course is horrific. If someone told me a nuclear bomb was dropped in the middle of the course yesterday, I probably would have believed them. The fairways looked like a war zone. The greens looked and played like AstroTurf was laid on concrete and then someone took a blow torch to it. The name of the course should be changed to “Crooks” creek because whoever runs this place is running a criminal operation stealing money from people. Also, if for some horrible reason someone decides to play here, be careful walking up the stairs and using the railing on #10. It looks like wood hasn’t been replaced in a century and the railing is coming out of the ground. It’s a law suit waiting to happen. It’s also a miracle how anyone gets through 18 holes because the signage on the course is non-existent and it’s impossible to find some tee boxes. I wouldn’t come back here even they offered me free golf for a lifetime. For the love of God don’t waste your money.

Unbelievable John Cook would lend his name to this dump Tee boxes non existent fairways all dirt greens are mud. I think i would rather play at Blackhawk which been closed over a year its probably still in better shape. Read they are in talks to sell this to a park/canoe livery if that is the case then stop stealing from the public and put on your website this course is unplayable

This course could not be in worse condition. Your choices are to hit off of dirt or weeds in the “fairway”. Best of luck finding a spot to get your tee into the ground on the tee box. The greens are completely dried out and are burnt all over. Your money is better spent elsewhere, this place needs a complete overhaul.

I played this course about 4 years ago and it was in excellent condition with amazing elevated tee boxes! I decided to play it again this year and it was a big mistake, the course was in such bad condition I wanted to go back to the front and ask for my money back. I continued to play the course hoping it would get better, but the greens and fairways were almost completely bare. There was no water in majority of the ponds and the ponds that had water were not cared for, the grass looked as if it hadn’t been cut all season. The management of this course is extremely disappointing because the hole layouts are great and I know what the course looked like before, this course should be shut down and no one should pay to play on this course.

The lady working in the clubhouse was nice. She explained that the fairways were being reseeded but was still in good shape to play. We rolled up on the first tee box and it was nothing but burnt grass and dirt but mainly dirt. That was the theme for every tee box. Also, finding your way around the course was also quite difficult. The cart paths were like atv paths you find in the woods. Now let’s move on to the fairways. There was little to no grass. It was equlaivant to playing in a cow pasture. Don’t think I have ever seen so much crab grass in my life. The rough was better to play out of than the fairway. The greens were half dirt and half grass. The actual grass was tore up and burnt. The fringe was made up of weeds. Also, there were several trash cans on the course that were overflowed, with trash laying everywhere. The course has potential but it looks like it hasn’t been maintained in several years. My firends and I would and left and asked for our money back but we met half way as we all live in different places. More suggestion if your are thinking about playing here, set your money on fire it will more fun.

It’s sad because this use to be one of the nicer courses here. Unfortunately it has not been taken care of and is a complete dog track now. Even for only $25 for my round was to much. The layout is fun but they don’t take care of it at all anymore. It will be my last time ever playing there.

LOVE the people at Cooks Creek. Left my wallet in a golf cart and one of the staff found it and called me immediately to let me know she had it. Went back to pick it up and play again. Everybody working there is soooo nice and friendly...and I was so happy to get my wallet back...that I had to write this review. I believe good people make a good golf course great. That is certainly the case at Cooks Creek. The layout of the course is really challenging but fair. The value for the money is great - golf can get expensive around Columbus ! But mostly the thing I LOVE about this location is the staff - friendly and helpful and Cathy makes an amazing chicken salad sandwich ! Will definitely play here many times in the future. I heard they are replacing the grass so it can only get better ! Awesome place to play.

Today was the 20th round I have played at Cook’s Creek dating all the way back to 2013. First time playing in 2020. This was by far the worst shape I have ever seen the course in. Burned out fairways and greens. Some greens are over halfway burned out, cracked, crusty, and sandy. Overgrown and poorly maintained tee boxes. Most bunkers are grass grown-in or badly maintained. I’m very sad - we used to love the drive down from CBus to play here - but not today. I would certainly avoid for some time. I hope this course comes back.

RIP Cooks Creek. You had a good run. I've seen cow pastures more playable

The course is in bad shape. Bare spots all over the place from the tee boxes to fairways even the greens. Used to be my favorite course. Will be very hard to go back. Needs a lot of work. Very disappointed.

I recall playing this course years ago and decided to play it again yesterday. I was surprised to arrive in mid morning and find mine was the first car in parking lot, clubhouse not yet opened and obvious signs by just looking around of the neglect this course has been dealing with. I would hope that the owners can get it turned around, as it is a very nice course...or was at least at one time.

I’ve played this course many times, but this will be my last! There are more weeds in this course than this is grass and more bare spots on the greens than there was grass! I’m not sure who owns this place now, but I’d think the Cook family would be ashamed to have their name on this place now!

This course was elite back in the day! Now it horrible! There is nothing I can say good about this course right now! Save your money...

First off. This course has always had one of the best layouts in ALL of Ohio not just the Columbus area. Secondly, I still Always have a good time playing here bc of the Elite layout, BUT, I’ve seen it for the last several years, they just do not put any money into the actual course maintenance. It’s really a shame. Love the Cook family but I hate Seeing this place in its current condition. They need to hire an elite super intendant and they need to spend money on restoring this beautiful layout to its glory days! $25 is still a great deal to play here but they could be charging $100 if this place was in great shape and they cleared out a lot of the native areas and shrubs that block the natural beauty of the layout.

I know I may be living in a dream world with wanting this place to be elite again but all it will take is money being spent on the maintenance of the grass on the course. Greens, fairways, rough, get them to country club type condition and clear out the ugly neglected shrubs and native areas on the river banks and you have one of the best courses in Ohio. Period. Till that happens it’s just a good deal to go get some swings in for $25 and a reminder of what could be with this property. Hope they can do this bc I love The course and love the Cooks!

Course has definitely seen much better days. Half of the fairways were literally dirt, and over have the greens had a decaying earth type of look. Rough was not mowed up to par. The only good thing about this course are the staff ( very friendly) and the carts are in good shape.

After not playing this course for 5-6 years I returned to play her again. But, instead of looking at beautiful fairway on #1 with a beautiful view I saw dead and decaying Earth. The steps going down to the tee box is completely destroyed and deteriorated and there was trash everywhere. Moving on - made it to 1st green and noticed that they too have been completely lost (black and cracked).. The grass growing in front of #2 tee box blocked any view of the hole and made it look unkept... I could go on and on, it was just very sad to see what has become of what was a beautiful course..

Staff very friendly.. Nobody really playing so pace was nice... Wouldn't pay more than $25 to play here for the condition it's currently in. Good luck

My wife and I just came out here for the second time. This course has a great layout, and is working hard to get to it’s true potential. Golf is a transaction though, $30 for 3-4 hours of your time and when it comes to golf on a course where you can play 7000+ from the tips... who can complain about that? Yeah, the greens could be faster and they could be not trying to burn out all the poa, but it is what it is. This place is the best deal in the Columbus area. The owner is awesome too. Go eat some of her food after. You can’t help but smile after spending some time with her.

Was told the fairways were under repair and being reseeded. That’s impossible considering there has been nearly zero upkeep on this course. Bone dry fairways and tee boxes that make it impossible to hit under the ball. Course shows several years of neglect.

Awful shape. Don’t play... dried up fairways and geeens, awful tee boxes, really was in disbelief... we didn’t even bother keeping score... the pictures must be 2 years old.
