Regulation Eighteen at Shawnee Hills Golf Course
About
Shawnee Hills is home to two different golf courses, an 18-hole regulation course and a nine-hole, par-3 layout. The 18-hole course has a front nine that plays across gently rolling hills accented with water hazards while the back nine presents a different set of challenges with more dramatic hills covered with forests of mature pines, maples, and oaks. The scenic Deer Lick Creek also runs alongside the back holes. The second half of the golf course definitely has more of a Carolina-feel to it while the front nine is more like a Florida course. The back is a bit tougher than the first half of the course, but wide fairways throughout make it a fairly forgiving layout overall, though the golf course boasts what may be the toughest hole in the Cleveland Metroparks, the par-4 fourth. This dogleg left hole plays uphill and demands accuracy with a line of trees on either side.

Shawnee rules!¡!
Shawnee is my favorite course in the Greater Cleveland area. It doesn’t get the attention of Sleepy Hollow or Manakiki but it is a great layout surrounded by parklands.
Nice course
Really enjoy this course. The course is not difficult but it is fun with some wide fairways. They staff are usually friendly.
The greens compare with those at private clubs!
I have enjoyed playing Shawnee Hills this season. The greens have improved significantly making the course a better test of the game. The staff is friendly and I look forward to playing here again soon!
Ify, ify for my situation
Course was in good shape as always. The 2 other golfers in the package were friendly. So all in all it was okay.
For seniors the specials are not that great a deal. I saved $1.00. But, I belong to our metro course program & when I play one of there courses I earn 1 points for every dollar spent. By paying thru Golfnow I lost $6..00.. Because I paid for two golfers thru you.
Pretty Good
While the course is not long the staff at Shawnee has used the Metroparks money to turn this into a very nice little course. Nothing penal about the rough and only 3-4 actually difficult holes. The important thing is to actually leave the driver in the bag sometimes. The greens were fast and smooth, but somewhat inconsistent with break. Pace was on the slow side at 5 hours. A bit of an ego builder but conditions are far superior to your normal one.
Will play again
Course was in great shape. Pace was slow for a 10:45 am Friday start.
Shawnee
The Big Met of the east side. Aside from teeing off 15 minutes late because they try and cram walk-ups in on a busy morning this was a decent round. Greens in great shape, rough and fairways OK. Pace was better than normal. After the first tee shenanigans, good day
Shoot in the face!
It seems that the day I played they were putting down a chemical that also needed water. While teeing off on the 3rd hole the sprinkler system turned on and George one of the guys I was playing with got shoot right in the face. Our clubs, bags, and carts were drenched as well. When we seen one of the grounds crew workers and told him what happened all he could say was sorry. Nothing other than that. The course was beautiful, greens awesome, and the rough well it was rough, the fairways were great when I hit them! If I'm in the area again I would go back as long as they are not treating the fairways.
Spectacular Conditions
I have played 15 different course all over northeast Ohio including Stone Water, Boulder Creek and Ellsworth Meadows, by far Shawnee has the best overall course conditions. The greens were exceptional I have not played on nicer green in my entire life rolled and cut to perfection with zero sight of fungus or wear. Who ever the Metro Parks hired as there course superintendent is knocking it out of the park!!! Shawnee was a course that 2 years ago I wouldn't have wasted my time going to but now I would gladly play there daily! The price is extremely fair and if you can catch a hotdeal hop on it!!!
Fun layout
A nice combination of scoring opportunities and long challenges. A reachable par 5. A demanding and long par 4. The rough was thick enough to present problems advancing the ball. A fun and affordable day on the links
place of play
6 hour round ridiculous to let 3 groups of learning kids on a saturday morning.!
SLOOOOOW!!
Played at 11:15 on a Thursday. The front nine took 2 hours 20 minutes. Waited on every shot at times 5 minutes. Saw a ranger who appeared to be looking for balls in the trees - not pace of play. This seems to be the MO of many of the Metro Park Courses.
If you have the patience to wait on most shots this is a fun course. If you like a quick pace of play avoid this course.
Hot Deal Set-Up
They strategically placed their hot deal right behind a high school match. Played the front in 3 hours and 15 minutes. Rangers statement to us on 2 tee: “It’s going to be a long day.” What a way to start the round. Playing in over 6 hours is just not worth playing at all. GolfNow is great, but courses like this make it dangerous.
Rough is rough
Rough was long and unforgiving when we played. I never mind that because there is a solution to that problem. Stay out of the rough. Shawnee is a Cleveland Metropark course, they are always in great shape. Played on a Tuesday. Pace of play was great. Might not be that way in the weekends, but this course is definitely a good challenge and worth playing a couple of times a year.
First Golf of the Season
The weather was beautiful. The course was great. Staff was friendly.
Very nice MetroParks course
Nice layout great pace of play. The fairways & greens were in excellent condition with the roughs being a bit on the thick side, but manageable.
