Regulation Eighteen at Shawnee Hills Golf Course
About
Shawnee Hills is home to two different golf courses, an 18-hole regulation course and a nine-hole, par-3 layout. The 18-hole course has a front nine that plays across gently rolling hills accented with water hazards while the back nine presents a different set of challenges with more dramatic hills covered with forests of mature pines, maples, and oaks. The scenic Deer Lick Creek also runs alongside the back holes. The second half of the golf course definitely has more of a Carolina-feel to it while the front nine is more like a Florida course. The back is a bit tougher than the first half of the course, but wide fairways throughout make it a fairly forgiving layout overall, though the golf course boasts what may be the toughest hole in the Cleveland Metroparks, the par-4 fourth. This dogleg left hole plays uphill and demands accuracy with a line of trees on either side.

Course was in excellent condition and staff was very friendly
I have played close to 20 courses this year and the greens were by far the best of any course I have played! The fairways were also in great condition. The grass on the tee boxes was in better condition than most greens I have played this year. This course is a hidden gem! Please note since this is a municipal course it gets alot of play so pace can be slow. That makes the exceptional course conditions just that more remarkable!
Fun Course for the money!
Overall fun course, driving accuracy is a must on the front but the back 9 opens up quite a bit, almost like 2 different courses. Some challenging holes but still came away with an 83!
Great pacing
Was able to tee off a little ahead of schedule. Pace was excellent. Not over booked.
Very Nice Course. Great Staff
The staff were especially helpful.
Good course, bad May weather, needs some rangering
Gave the course conditions average due to the wet weather. Greens were very slow and bumpy due to recent aeration and inability to mow them due to the extremely cold and wet weather in mid May. Needs Rangers that will enforce speed of play. Recently played as a twosome and a threesome in front would not let up play thru. We caught them on the 7th hole when they started about 45 mins ahead of us. Only time they hurried is when they moved to the 10th tee. They played as a twosome and still made it a death march. Ranger knew about it but did not say anything. Staff is very courteous.
Shawnee Hills in great shape
This course is in excellent shape - fairways are great and greens just coming back from aeration. Staff is friendly. Great place to both be challenged and have a moderately difficult round depending on the tees used. Back nine more challenging than front. Gorgeous scenery.
Spring time golf
Course was soft greens just aerated but a nice first 18 for this season
Great course but didn't tell golf now about aeration.
Great course layout. Fairways could be cut a bit shorter. They neglected to inform golfnow they had aerated, so that was disappointing. Other than that, enjoyed the round.
Ken
The back nine on this course requires precision shots. Challenging.
Good First Day Out
For being early in the season, the course was in good condition. Greens and fairways were well maintained. Although there were some wet areas on the fairways (not a big deal with the amount of rain we had seen the few days prior). When the course dries out it's a great place to play. It's a good course for beginners.
The driving range and chipping/putting green were great as I hadn't played since December.
Great shape
Course in great shape would recommend cutters move from middle of fairway when players are teeing off
Good for intermediate level
The staff at golf now probably made a mistake on my bill. I use an award that entitle me to pay a Hot Deal and get one free. While the hot deal shown was $20 for 18 holes w cart by booking 2 players. However, the bill I paid to Golfnow turned out to be $40.98. I could not figure out the amount Golfnow charged me. Now a staff at Golfnow. That Golfnow should clarify, or correction should be made !
Beautiful
While most of the courses in the area are still recovering from a harsh August. This place looks immaculate. Give the head greenskeeper a raise. Fairways and greens were fuller and more consistent than carpet. Better than some of the higher cost places I have played in the past month. I'll be a regular here for sure.
Shawnee 18
Great value for your money. Course was in nice shape , but I felt the cart paths could use some attention.
Hidden Gem
As always, we love this course because well maintained, easy to reserve, perfect pace, some what challenge, great value for what we paid. Close to where I live. Just perfect course.
Great Course for Beginners
This course is very well maintained. Very large, flat greens. Very forgiving when it comes to finding balls hit outside the fairway.
Stuck behind players with no idea about course etiquette or pace of play
After a nearly THREE HOUR FRONT NINE, I gave up and went home without playing the back. I was stuck behind 5 Foursomes of obvious cronies who could have cared less about anyone playing behind them. They were loud and slow and were taking nearly 30 minutes to complete each hole. Some of them even went ball fishing on the 8th hole-one guy pulling up at least 4 golf balls from the murky waters. There was one "Ranger" traveling about during all of this, but he obviously didn't make any comments to these unbelievably slow groups. Had he done so, this review would perhaps have never been written. My previous experiences (and there have been many) have been mostly favorable, but I will never again play here because I do not want to take a chance that a similar fate will await me. RANGERS; DO YOUR JOB--even if the golfers are friends of yours.
Nice course
Nice course , somewhat easy to play , par 4 are almost exactly the same yardage
Course in perfect condition!!!!!!
This is the second time I have played Shawnee Hills and this course was in great condition. The greens were well taken care of. The sand traps were also in nice condition. Hats off to the whole groundskeeper crew for keeping this course in great condition. There was a marshall moving about the course to keep up pace of play. Not a real tough track but has some nice holes and is very scenic. I will be back, along with my friends to play again !!
