Not too bad
Pretty course layout and nice greens, but sand traps were unplayable and it was never mentioned at the pr shop. Cart path was also mediocre and uneven. Besides that, a fun golf course to play.
Best Value course in NJ
Beaver Brook was a great course but due to its decline in new members it has taken its toll. The greens, fairways and tee boxes were immaculate and groomed to perfection. I paid $25 to play 18 with a cart included. Needless to say my expectations were not high, but I was pleasantly surprised. I played on a Tuesday around 1pm and there was almost no one else on the course. The only disappointment was the bunkers. There was simply no sand in them, and I mean NO SAND!! I will play this track again especially at the price, but they need to add some sand to the bunkers and offer a course layout book or something that could indicate hazards off the tee shots that can’t be seen from many of the tees. Overall 7.8/10 as previously noted the greens and fairways were in great condition and rolled fast and true, but having no sand in the bunkers truly took away from what was a gem of NJ courses.
Good course except sand traps
They have taken reasonably good care of the course except they must have decided to not care at all about the bunkers which are now dried out with no sand and starting to grow grass.in them.
Perfect way to open the new year!
One of few courses open. In pretty good shape considering all the rain. Very good value.
Winter golf
Course as good as can be expected for winter play, no one mention the greens had been irritated recently and are in bad condition.
Incompetence
Aerated Greens: Not mentioned when booking AND when checking in. Aerated greens with puncture holes big enough for a golf ball to come to a stop INSIDE the puntures holes REQUIRE PRIOR NOTIFICATION. BUT THE PRO SHOP DID NOT HAVE A PROBLEM MENTIONING “CART PATH ONLY.”
Cart Path Only: I understand preserving the course is important. BUT MAYBE YOU SHOULD CHECK EACH HOLE TO VERIFY CART PATH ONLY IS NECESSARY (OR AT LEAST CHECK MORE THAN ONE HOLE?!) BECAUSE IT WAS NOT NECESSARY ON MAJORITY OF THE COURSE. Unless you are driving a bulldozer or dump truck on the course.
Bunkers: THERE ARE CURRENTLY NO BUNKERS ON THE COURSE. ALTHOUGH IT APPEARS THAT THERE USED TO BE BUNKERS WHICH ARE NOW FILLED BY WHAT FEELS LIKE CONCRETE.
A tad more common sense and competence would make the golf experience better.
Greens and tee boxes were in horrible condition. Im sure during peak season this course is better, but just was not enjoyable. Could barely find balls just off fairway and greens due to the amounts of leaves.
Director
It was Cart Path only but did not need to be on most holes. The heavy wind from the day before and that day dried course out quite a bit. Cart Path only is an annoying thing on this course if not needed!!
Rainy Saturday
I haven't played here in several years and met a friend for a round. It was a rainy start but we went out anyway. Even though it was rainy, it was clear that the bunkers have been neglected for some time. Stuff should not be growing in a bunker at a course charging $70 for a round. Greens were in good shape but they really need to address this issue. Numerous other reviews have mentioned it.
New improved Beaver Brook
Have not played this course in 15 years. I enjoyed my round, fairways and rough nicely maintained. Easy GIR and greens roll true.
Now, what is with the sand bunkers? Please, it needs enough sand... It is a shame, CZ the whole golf course layout is truly a gem.
I will be back and hope to bring my buddies here....
All good except the bunkers!
I have golfed here for 9 years and it is a beautiful course. Unfortunately, they have not kept up with the bunkers. No sand - just rocks and mud.
Also, it took forever to check in at Pro Shop. The woman behind the counter was also cleaning the carts! I waited 20 minutes - and that was at 7:30 AM! She was just too slow (asking for e-mail address, zip code) and should not have bothered with the carts. I can wipe down a wet seat.
Saturday Round at BB
Course is in excellent condition except for the sand traps. Greens are very challenging. Price is a little on the high side.m
Fun Time
Fun and challenging course. Very friendly staff!!! Thank you!
Nice course at great value
Was surprised how nice this course was especially for the value. The bunkers looked like they could use sand but besides that course is in good shape
Good course. Fairways and greens were in excellent condition. It does have a couple of quirky holes so if you've never played it before probably best if done with someone familiar with the course. My only issue was the bunkers. Rocks and lack of sand. Some were so hard that there was no way to play out of them and we dropped along side of them. They are the reason I cannot give the course 5 stars.
