early April golf, could not wait to hit a few balls
Course was a bit wet but that is very normal this time of year, plus we did just get 2 inches of rain 3 days earlier. Course and greens were in ok shape for this time of year, 55 degrees and very windy. Pro shop made a point to say NO jeans? on a day like today I could see no reason why, but our foursome obeyed. Cart path only of course, understandable also.Wish a few ball washers were placed somewhere on any holes? none.
Also would have been nice for a couple water coolers around the course, especially since no cart to sell anything to drink came around on a Sunday afternoon? I understand early season and things not up and running 100% yet. All and all was a enjoyable day, will go back and play again as weather warms, it did look like some early tree maintenance was being done to the course to make more player friendly.
Beaver Brook GC
I did not have a pleasant experience.
There were no ball washers on the tee boxes. Twice during the round you have to drive the cart under an overpass, which is not high enough and the roof of the cart scraped ceiling of the tunnel. There wasn't any sort of ranger or pace keeper on the golf course. Essentially, my group had to pack it in after 12 holes because of the slow play.
For $30 bucks its not bad but certainly not $50+ for a morning round.
Because first time playing this course, there were no hole diagrams on the score card or on course markers.
This is a very difficult course, unless you are a long hitter.
Winter golf
Was cold with wind chill but loved it. No crowd. No rush. No slow play. Was 2some and finished in around 3 hours. Conditions were not the greatest but playable. Only staff I saw in the front desk was friendly. Cart could use some updating. Course has a number of elevations which makes it interesting. Some holes are narrower, some more sloping, and some are longer for the average player. Overall good challenge and experience for the intermediate player.
They cut down all of the trees!
For some unknown reason, they cut down lots and lots of trees around the course, trees that were perfectly healthy, contributed to the beauty and protected folks from errant balls. I'm told it was to reduce the amount of maintenance (leaves, etc.).
HUGH mistake.
Plus, there are cut trees lying around everywhere - they didn't even clean their mischief up!
Should be nice and HARD and DRY and HOT during the season. Great move...
Course was a little wet since it had just rained. Though I'm Not complaining since it's the middle of February. looks like the ground crews are quite busy removing a few trees around the course. Course in nice shape, hopefully weather will be warming up soon.
Pros: Friendly staff. Good price $17 with cart at 11am. Pace of play excellent. (18 holes in 4 hours). Restaurant is clean and good food. Men's locker room and bath clean and well maintained.
Cons: Carts are old and rusty.
Bunkers don't have sands
A beautiful country club structured and very active in being a great home course for both golfers and entire family
Now here's a facility that can accommodate the needs for the whole family with a wide variety of entertainment to choose from. They have everything from golf memberships, leagues and have a spacious outdoor swim complex. They are also equipped both indoor and out for weddings, parties, tournaments or private dining.
It seemed to be a very classy country club to book your affairs. The golf course is very well maintained with a nice layout and design. I enjoyed every minute of play without any glitches or holdups. Staff was very friendly and one thing that did stand out to me was, no matter how busy they were with multiple functions going on they made me feel like I was just as important being a single golfer. Easy to get to right off a major highway, Beaver Brook is a great place to be.
OK... Golf Course
OK place to play... But they (Management) should realize there are other places to play or join. They need to up their game to be competitive. Otherwise they are OK...
Wish the fairways were maintained better!!
Good scenic course with very sloping fairways that require shotmaking in some holes. The greens are fast and have multiple gradients to test your skills. The carts were kind of old but functional. Wish the fairways were maintained better. A good course to play - very scenic, requires shotmaking and greens will test you. Do not expect much for amenities and we prepared for not the best maintained fairways!!
It's Beaverbrook....
....so same old things, but greens in great shape and for the price, great value in the area compared to other courses looking for $20+ more a round...
Good value
The course in good condition. There a quite a few challenging holes. Big problem is that is that there is NO SAND in any of the bunker, only small rocks. It's simply ridiculous for a decent course not to have any sand in the bunkers. If you can get past this, it is an excellent value for the money.
Very disappointing experience.
I booked a Saturday early afternoon tee time without the knowledge they had 2 small outings and cramming in as many afternoon tee times as possible. We had to wait for carts to become available, which set us behind right from the get go. Needless to say, the pace of play was so incredibly slow that we could not finish the round before it became dark. Unacceptable given the early tee time. Additionally, the course was in just OK condition. The worst part was the sand traps. It was like hitting off of concrete.
The staff was courteous and friendly. I might play this course again, since I have family who lives nearby, but it will have to be during the week. Hopefully the next experience will be more positive.
Not many flat lies
Got a great Hot Deals weekend rate. Fairways are pretty dry, no rain for several weeks. Greens though are in very good shape. Lots of slope on fairways so you have to watch for the way ball will roll after it lands.
Not as good as it used to be.
Payed $50 for a sunday afternoon.
Tee boxes are not taken care of and neither are the sand traps. Sand traps were hard and rocky.
The amount of bugs made it impossible for me to really enjoy myself. They were literally everywhere and anywhere.
Course layout and staff are great.
Nice course, well with it
The course was in good condition from tee to green. But, the bunkers are in terrible shape, no new sand in most of them. Our foursome agreed you could remove it from the bunker and put it next to it. No need to ruin a club from rocks or pavement feel. Pace of play was great, 4 hours on a Sunday! Staff was friendly and rangers were nice and still moved groups along. Greens were in very nice shape. For the money would definitely play again.
A Great Value for Seniors
I haven't found a better non-municipal course value for Seniors...only $26 with cart for minimum 57 years old. That said, the course is a bit quirky and hilly and has a lot of severely sloping fairways. The greens were in fine shape, but because of the severe slope on many of them, three-putts or more were almost guaranteed if you weren't below the hole. The check-in staff wasn't particularly friendly and I was very disappointed at the insistence of no outside beverages or food allowed despite the fact that there was no on-course beverage cart. However, small coolers with ice were available at a minimal cost for beverages purchased there. Overall, I view the course as worth playing a few times year, especially in the Fall when the colors of the stately, mature trees should be spectacular.
