Longest Round of my Life
I had a midday tee time but didn’t get to start until about 45 minutes after our scheduled time. The pace of play was extremely poorly managed from the start. There was already a six-person group ahead of us, followed by a threesome behind us. To make matters worse, as the group in front was teeing off, the starter added another player, who had a 2:00 PM tee time, into their group.
Throughout the round, we constantly had players hitting into us while we were still waiting for the group ahead to clear the green. Tee times were spaced far too closely together, around three minutes apart, which made it nearly impossible to maintain any reasonable pace without near-perfect shots on every hole.
Course conditions didn’t help either. There was barely any distinction between the fairway and rough, which made the experience even more frustrating.
Despite being under new ownership, the overall experience hasn’t improved. I paid $78 for this round, and it certainly didn’t feel worth it; I wouldn’t pay even $40 to play here again. Unless you’re a highly skilled player going out solo, it’s unrealistic to expect to keep up with the pace they’re trying to enforce.
Overall, I’d strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
Pace of Play
Awful pace of play. Tee’d off a full 38 minutes after scheduled tee time. Not normally picky but the piece of play was completely unacceptable. Waited at least 5 mins before almost every shot
I would the say course itself is ok; the first handful of holes are very close together which isn’t great as you really do have to be on alert. Good conditions and a variety of different holes/challenges.
Very friendly staff, they have a big open bar.
Improvement
I have been playing this course for years, the new management has done an incredible job at improving course conditions. Very impressed.
Pretty good
Nice course. They were working on the tee boxes so they were in one location, mostly where the women’s tees usually are. Understandable since it’s early in the season. I’ll play it again this summer and I’m sure it will be in better shape. Otherwise, the staff was super friendly and it was enjoyable. Piece of play was outstanding.
Very rude staff would not suggest to anyone who is looking a quality golf course or a family friendly place
Best it’s ever been!
For years, I played this course when it was Minebrook CC. However, over the years, the course’s condition deteriorated significantly. Most of the greens were diseased and unputtable, tee boxes were nothing but dirt, and bunkers were beyond unplayable. One par 3 tee box was so bad that they installed an artificial mat for players to hit from. Those days are long gone! Since becoming Rock Ridge, the course conditions have improved dramatically. Every green has been improved and meticulously maintained, tee boxes are in much better condition (minus a couple that still need help on the back nine), bunkers have real sand, trees have been removed to promote grass growth, and much more! Not to mention, the GPS carts are fantastic, and the staff is incredibly friendly. The food at the restaurant is also excellent! Last Friday, October 17, 2025, we played a round at 2:00 p.m. and completed it in under four hours. It was a great experience, and I’m grateful to everyone who played a part in making this golf course great again!!!
Owners are the real issue with this course
I have played this course maybe 12-15x over the summer. If during the weekdays, normally a great experience. If it's in the weekends, forget it.
The office employee allow walk INS to override tee times. They over book the course, allow players to start on the back nine, all without dialing to the starters. V the starters are always great the owners, not so much.
We (2 of us) were stuck behind a threesome for at least three holes. On the 10th hole, one of the owners, a man child in a get shirt, supposedly a Marshall was holding up the threesome by taking in the middle of the fairway.
I asked the Marshall if they could speed up the group that he was helping show up play and he told me they weren't showing us down. Somehow he know that being on one hole for 10 minutes. Because of this man child owner, I refuse to go back to this course. Absolute joke that an owner is comparing about his job and is zero help to paying customers. The owners are what makes this course meh
Solid Track
Course is in great shape. First time there will definitely go back. Pace of play was a bit slow but it was a Saturday morning. Staff is super friendly. Greens were lightning fast
Great value
It had been many years since I've played here last. The new owners are doing a great job and are obviously putting money into the course. The greens were in great shape, and the course overall was in good condition. Great value for $70 on a weekend, I will definitely be back.
Fall Out
The weather was right and the golf group was right. The course was much better than the last go around. No issues!
Just being honest
This course might be second to Rockleigh blue in terms of course conditions and layout. Tee boxes were brown with hints of green patches, fairways blended in with the rough and felt like concrete on some holes, and the greens were infested with gnats/flies that would fly into your mouth mid-putt. I have also never heard so many groups yell fore - not solely due to their skill level, but because several holes were placed next to each other. There was one hole I was about to tee off when a ball landed 10 yards from me. I move onto the next hole and proceed to do the same exact thing and narrowly miss the group teeing off. I wouldn't golf here for free if I had the option so I highly recommend not wasting your money here.
Friendly staff!
This course is almost an hour drive for us, but we really appreciate the staff there- the office guys, the starter, they all try to make us feel welcome and appreciated.
Course is getting better but needs some attention in certain areas
I play this course very regularly. Like 5-7 times a month due to the great staff and pleasant experience I always have playing here. They recently added trackers to the carts to help with yardage and pace of play, which is a very nice addition. They have also started having carts go around with snacks and drinks which is awesome.
One issue is the speed of the carts. Most are extremely slow, and I mean slow jog slow. Almost to the point of some carts not being what I would consider a cart, and most could probably walk faster through the course. There are very very slow player groups on this course at times, and I think the slowness of the carts add to this....
The day we played, they were aerating the greens, which is fine as this course's greens have been in extraordinary state over the last month or two. There was no mention of the green state or that they aerated the greens. Paid full price but would have been nice to know the state of the greens before play.
The ONE major item this course needs is sand trap assistance. They are all filled with rocks and very little sand. It isn't worth playing out of 80% of them due to the fact you will most likely destroy a club
I really enjoy this course, if they can fix the sand traps and occasional very SLOW player groups, this course would be a near 99%.
