Good and Bad
Kudos to ownership for improved conditions. However long way to go before I return. Course was not crowded yet over 2 1/2 to play nine and that was with a group skipping the greens on at least 3.
No rangers, no monitoring of play and the cart deposit is precious.
Rough around edges
I appreciate what the new owners are trying to do but it may be awhile before this course is ready. The lower holes seem to have experienced flooding and were quite rugged. The upper holes are a bit drier and fun to play. It’s a good deal for 18 holes. I hope it dries out and that the new owners make enough money to make it worth their while.
Slow Pacé of play
There was a league about to go out just before my tee time.
I was requested to start on 7 up to nine then go on #1.
By the time I got to # 1 tee there were 3 groups waiting tee off.
It took 3 hours to play 8 holes.
On the bright side the greens I had a chance to put on were in good condition although in need of a good trim..
New And Improved
Greens are much better than before and staff are so friendly so I’m grateful it’s under new ownership. Tee boxes need work but I think with full weekends and a growing maintenance budget, this course will be a staple in my rotation soon.
Getting better, but not great.
The course has improved over the last two years. The greens and traps are now in good shape. The fairways have gotten better, there's no longer swamps in the landing areas, but work is still needed (and is in progress). The tee boxes are still HORRIBLE (but that doesn't concern me a lot).
Don't love the layout; there's a lot of weird driving holes.
It was a HOT Monday AM and the pace was still slow. If you go as a twosome, expect to be paired up at the start or be compelled to after a few holes (I've never finished a round as a twosome here). Of course this isn't unusual in NJ.
Price has gotten high given the course and conditions.
GN has the wrong address
The addresses on golf now takes you to a dead end one lane dirt road 15 min from the course . Might want to look into this.
Big improvement!!
I played Rock Ridge twice last week. There is a vast improvement from last year. Improvements are all related to new ownership. The tee boxes are much better, the greens saw the biggest changes where I encountered weeds last year and obviously this impacted putting. There year looks clean and well maintained.
I will be playing this course more frequently in 2024 and on.
new owners
Years ago I used to play this course on a regular basis. Life got in the way and played again 2 years ago. It was in poor shape. New owners took over last year and I went back. The good: the greens are in great shape as is the fringe and bunkers. The price is great. I went out first at 7am and played in two hours. Staff is friendly and appears committed to making improvements. The bad: tee boxes still need work as do the fairways. Overall, great value that I anticipate will improve over the next few years.
GOLF DAY
EXCELLENT TIME AT ROCK RIDGE GREENS WERE EXCELLENT TEE BOXES NEEDED SOME WORK COURSE WAS FUN STAFF VERY FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL WOULD COME BACK
Improvements starting to be seen
The place has gotten better every time I’ve played. The greens look way way better, they aren’t fast but they’re not slow anymore. Also, the fairways are in much better shape than they were this time last year. Tee boxes on the back 9 need work but other than that it’s on the rise and worth $55 in my opinion
