Nice scenic affordable track
First time playing. Greens very true and forgiving. Enough hazards to keep you honest. Back nine scenic and a challenge. Jim and brothers nursing this back to good health. Fairways wide and lost balls minimal. Bar and amenities make it a post play destination. Cant wait to play again now that nuances are known. Give it a try!
Good Price Extremely Delayed/Slow
Staff was friendly, the layout is actually decent and challenging. The new bar looks great inside, wish it was open for a bite after. Cart girls came around often, which was great due to the blistering heat today. Only major complaint was the pace/start time. I realize it was a holiday today, but we’re talking an hour plus delay. Definitely need to space out the tee times better or start some twos/threes on hole 10. Overall though, hope they figure it out, because the price for NJ is great and this isn’t just a typical boring course.
Challenging/Fun Course Layout ..... but Slow
Needs to improve/repair the tee boxes (a mess) and a ranger to keep the pace of play. Too many foursomes gather to talk rather than playing their balls. Many of us dislike waiting on almost every tee box & almost every second shot or playing a round in over four hours.
New owner/management team (nice people) is trying to improve (w time) the facility.
Takes time.....
...to bring a course back from neglect. New owners/managers have a great attitude. The layout varies from wide open to narrow and punishing. The greens are slow but have straight rolls, bunkers are better than average (kudos), but the tee boxes need lots of work.
Impreccable greens
Greens were impeccable. So much improvement since last year. Very packed on a beautiful Saturday as expected.
Good value for the money
Overall, and considering the high price of golf at most North Jersey courses, this course offers a good value for the money. Fairways are generally good shape with a couple of exceptions, and I found the greens to be in good shape. Piece of play was a bit slow. Finished nine holes and in two hours, but ran into two groups of four that were, very slow. They could use a Marshall to move slow groups like this along quicker. Because of The back up, Only play nine holes
They’ve made a lot of improvements
Been playing this course for over a decade now and the new owners are doing a great job bringing it back to life. Value is definitely there. Beverage carts come around frequently and you can order food from the clubhouse and they’ll bring it to you on the course.
Amazing
I belong to a private club, I just had an outing at rock ridge! They did unbelievable! From the staff to the golf! Everything was exceptional!!! Highly recommend
…
Prepare for frustration.
I recently played on the battlefields of The Vietnam War and they had better Tee boxes and Greens than Rock Ridge Golf course. This course does not have greens they just made a massive fairway and added some sod to make an illusion that they have greens. The Tee boxes are more beat up than Rihanna after a date with Chris Brown. They also ask for a $5 safety deposit for the Cart Key which I have never heard of before. The only positive I had about this course was that they have food delivery to you on the course which was reasonably priced.
johnnypataco-rock ridge
As a beginer and played twice this season(April) at Rock Ridge, it was an overall positive experience. From the course layout to it's friendly staff. The pace was constant and the ranger will maintain it through out. My group as well as my self will be seeing alot of Rock Ridge for this season. Thank you!
Don’t play here
Slow round. 5 hours. There are players all over the place. Had a lot of people hitting in our fairway to another hole.
Pace of play was a tad slow, but it was the first weekend it hit above 80 degrees so can’t fault the course for that.
Fairway and Tee box conditions were fair, a bit dry and hard at places but other parts were getting some work done so at least they’re on top of it.
Great amenities with:
Pro shop, Bar & Grill, practice green, beverage carts, great views and course layout in my opinion
Only thing I would change would be maybe add a Port-A-John or two throughout the course, clubhouse is the only bathroom when I played there
Other then that, great value for $55/each and will definitely visit again
Poor
People who worked the course, absolutely NO issue w/ them. Polite & present. I DO have an issue w/ the course not providing any info to consumers regarding the overall appearance & shape of the course. The greens were like putting on bad fairways that had recently been aerated. The fairways missing large swaths of grass. The round itself took just under 5hrs 30mins. I paid $65 for this round. Never written a review for a course in my life, this is my first. Felt compelled to do so. Just an awful experience. I would play on a broken simulator before coming back here.
