Crystal Springs Golf Club
About
Crystal Springs Golf Club in Hamburg touts a reputation of being not only the most challenging golf course in New Jersey, but also one of the most challenging layouts east of the Mississippi. The site filled with water after its use as a limestone quarry in 1929, which formed the natural springs on the 10th hole that the course is named after. The layout is definitely a shot-maker's course. Carefully sculpted mounding that frames the fairways and greens defines each hole. There is also tall and gnarly rough treacherously guarding the tight fairways. The golf course sits just a few miles from New Jersey's highest point, sprawling across an undulating terrain that makes it difficult to find an even lie. One of the most notably difficult, and subsequently the most talked about, holes is the 11th. The hole is perched atop a cliff overlooking the Windsor Quarry.

FUN
Excellent course fun to play ..
Winter Golf at Ski Resort??
Anytime you can play golf at the end of December in this area of the country is a holiday miracle! With ski mountains right down the road I'm sure the area would prefer to have a "true" winter playground this time of year, but I was happy to join others on the golf course. Haven't played this course in many years and it did not disappoint. Thanks for the friendly greeting, the wonderful starter that juggled the many winter golfers on multiple courses, and the last weekend golf of 2015. Happy New Year Golf Now and my fellow golfers!
It was a great moment to play with huge discount on golf no.
Everything was perfect but I got to walk on fairway getting off a cart because they had to maintain fairway. That was only auwful moment to play. It was totally different view of golf course shape than summer season. I'd like recomand every revel of player to play this season at this course.
First Timer
Everything was extra nice. Challenging and picturesque. Will definitely return.
To slow
5 1/2 hours to play round is way to long. We never saw a ranger the whole day? Course tough but good....
Sandy greens
This is the third time Crystal Springs resorts while booking never mentioned the greens were aerated . Their was more sand on the green than down the jersey shore. Don't care but paying top dollar for a 75$ course at best and not mentioning they aerated the green is what I've learn to expect from Crystal Springs
First Timer
Early round was played in fog; tough going.
DO NOT PLAY THIS COURSE FIRST TIME BY YOURSELF. Carts must cross busy streets and signage is VERY poor. Cart boy does not clean windshield (even after tip) and starter gives NO info/help on cart navigation. Course is challenging to weird. In places it's cut into a quarry, so expect the unexpected. Why the bumps? Are they covering giant rocks that could not be blasted? In a video game they might be fun, but in reality they don't belong. Cut them down, make collecting fairways, and you''ll have a much more enjoyable course. Finally, check with your lawyer regarding liability if your ball injures property/people. The houses are so close to the fairways that you should be able to text home owners a 'fore' before you hit, just in case.
Great course
Beautiful course. Great condition. Some spectacular holes.
Great course conditions
This was an Excellent value, great condition, friendly staff.
good course
The course was over booked. Only played 11 holes Then left was taking over 25 minutes a hole.
Great course but hard
While I am a beginner I was able to play most of this course. Some holes more difficult than others but I only lost a few balls. Would definitely go back. Not a walkable course.
Where beauty meets difficulty
First time ever up at Crystal Springs. Absolutely beautiful golf course with outstanding conditions. Not too long of a course but the greens were lightning fast with crazy breaks in them. Easily one of the most challenging golf courses I've ever played. Would love to go back anytime.
great features
Wonderful conditions. Small green landing area.
Uneven lines in fairway. Good experience for me
This course has. Professional features
Very beautiful landscape extremely challenging. A must do. For any serious golfer
Excellent condition
It was a very hot day. 94 high! With a lot of sweat, it was difficult to play but we enjoyed the course very much.
Great course but bad pace
Played last weekend. Great shape/layout. I would suggest playing from the blues (middle) unless you're a beginner. If you play from the whites you will be hitting mid irons to wedges all day, which can get old. Awful 5.5 hour pace which I could live with sometimes but not one ranger was seen the entire day which is unacceptable. Would still play again. Have this pace problem often at the crystal springs groups of courses actually.
Beautiful course
A great course, a lot of challenging holes and picturesque views. Course was in great condition, even with all the rain the night before.
Challenging interesting course
This course contains a hole on the back nine that is one of the coolest designs I've ever played. Two hundred foot cliff is the tee box and you are warned not to go too close to the edge because it's a shear drop. The course is littered with condos which detracts. On arrival we were approached and helped by staff with our bags. On check in I was asked if I was a member and how would I like to pay. I had already paid through Golf Now and gotten an excellent rate for Fathers Day. We saddled up and approached the starter, problem was there was no starter. He was MIA. Again, other staff called him twice on the radio and 10 minutes later he shows up. They weren't busy. There's a menu on hole 7 to order however there's no phone. The cart girl was very pleasant as were the girls in the Halfway House. I'm thinking management doesn't seem too concerned about service. That we basically paid half price for the round I'm not complaining, however had I paid full price I would have felt shorted. It is an amazing course, granted. If you are a decent golfer you will have fun.
can't beat it
Presumably I paid just $29 as a single to fill a 3 some but they were late so ended up playing by myself. Once the 4 some ahead let me play thru I had the course to myself and got a lot of practice in. Crystal Springs is an amazing course, every hole is different and the 11th has the only green in the world where you can hit the green but still not see the pin.
