Fox Hollow Golf Club
About
Fox Hollow Golf Course in Somerville sprawls across acres of rolling woodlands, offering dramatic elevation changes throughout the par-70 layout. Designed by local designer Hal Purdy, the abundant trees and hilly terrain have been deftly incorporated into the course. Originally built in 1967, the golf course was completely redesigned in 2000 to make it more challenging while at the same time improving its playability. Since its renovation, it has garnered a local following but it is still one of the better kept secrets of Somerset County, making it likely that golfers will be able to play the golf course regardless of the day or time. In addition to the course, there is also a practice facility with a grass driving range, a bunkered practice green, and an expansive putting green. One reason Fox Hollow G.C. is a popular choice, besides the enjoyable layout, is the affordability it offers.

Friendly staff, great layout. Fun course
My wife and I played the front 9 at Fox Hollow. Staff was lovely, especially Evan in the pro shop.
Course conditions were a bit tough with a lot of patchy fairways and tee boxes a bit chewed up. Greens were in great shape.
It’s a fun layout and I look forward to returning.
The members, however, can be a bit rude.
The rough is very high takes a long time to find the ball. The bugs are very annoying. However there was no one working in the bar. Was looking to get lunch but no workers. Parking lot needs to be repaved
Excellent Routing
Fun track that winds through a hollow with excellent routing. Friendly check in and starter. Get out early on it
Average
First time playing it. They have a massive bug problem that bug spray doesn't help solve. We ventured out here to try something new. But not the biggest fan of the bug issue and pace of play was a bit slow.
Tough greens
Greens are really fast and difficult to read. They slope back to front on most of them, if you’re above the hole you basically have to tap it or it’s going 10ft past the hole. Other than that it’s a cool layout with a lot of elevation change. Fairways are narrow but it’s not going to kill you if you miss them.
Fun day and challenging beautiful course
This course has a very nice lay out and it;s a beautiful course with thick rough.
The greens and putting was very challenging with the pin locations and even more so than Crystal Springs and Trump National. If you have to put downhill, good luck, the ball keeps rolling and rolling with a slight tap and your second put is often longer than your first put. It is better to be in the front of the green than the back or above the pin. That is generally the case but even more so on this course. I got on the greens in two on most holes but the puts were very difficult. I really enjoyed the challenge and I can't wait to play there again .I learned things about putting that I have not learned on other greens that will make me a better player.
Tough course
Bunkers were rock hard
Rough was very deep And the greens were
very fast and hilly. Lots of run off didn’t seem like they water them
Enjoyable round
Course was lush and in great shape even with all the recent rain. The rough was brutal, so it made the round a bit slow. But overall an ejoyable round on a challenging enough golf course where I had to use every club in the bag.
Slowest round of my life
Don’t waste your time here…longest round of my life.
