The Players Club at Foxfire Golf Club
About
Foxfire Golf Club boasts 36 holes of championship golf, the Foxfire Course and the Players Club Course. The Players Club was added in 1993.The layout is a deft combination of traditional American golf and traditional British links design that provides the perfect complement to the original. The golf course is the more challenging of the two, but not by much. The layout features narrow fairways lined with trees and water hazards on eight holes. There are three particularly tricky carries over water. Strategically placed bunkers and contoured mounding also treacherously lurk by the greensides. The par-4 16th hole is the course's signature. This demanding hole plays uphill through trees to a green that is guarded by five bunkers. The most memorable hole though, might be the par-5 eighth, which features the longest sand bunker in the Midwest.

Awful
Awful! If you want to play a 6+ hour round I would then recommend. It was by far the worst course I have placed in Columbus. Yes I understand it is Muni golf but it was ridiculous. Between 8 and 9 alone where the Turn is, the group in front of us was all sitting at a picnic table eating a sandwich because there was a group on the green, a group in the fair way and then 3 groups waiting to tee off. When I called the club house, no one answered. Then I drove ahead to see what the issue was and there was NO ONE for 2 holes. Ranger was needed to push play but they were no where to be find like the rest of the staff. Course was in below average shape. Wouldn’t recommend at all.
Great Layout, Demanding Fairways
For a Columbus-area public course, Foxfire is a tough master. The course is in good condition right now and the holes are quite interesting. With the exception of a few mid-round par 4s the course is pretty tight. Lost balls, water, and OB await you if you miss by much on your drive. Green designs are excellent with the greens rolling well and true. But you can also score with good shots. Definitely hit the range first. Staff was very friendly and helpful, pace of play was fine although we did tee-off a little late.
A Very Enjoyable Round!
I love Foxfire. The course layout is great. I enjoy not seeing the clubhouse except leaving on 1 and ending on 18.
The turn house is great! I HIGHLY recommend the chicken salad!
Very reasonably priced in my opinion and the staff is fantastic!
Terrific Course
Course was in great condition for early in the season. Although it’s arguably one of the most challenging courses in Columbus, it’s the best bang for your buck. I would recommend to anyone who’s looking for a tough course with great views, it’s always a great time.
Slow slow slow
Had a tee time around 3:30.. didn’t get off till 3:46 but that’s not too bad. The problem was the pace and the amount of groups they tried to cram into the day. At one point there were 4 groups on the tee box of 13 waiting. No Ranger in sight! The only other thing is the cart paths are terrible! Extremely rough. The cost is fine but it was 7:30 and I still had 3 holes to play with 2 groups on the tee box for the remaining holes. I just left because it would have been dark when I finished. That just ruins the experience for me. The greens were unfairly fast.( Probably a 13 on stemp meter)The staff really didn’t say much so I gave that an average rating but the pace of play will keep me away. There should have been someone keeping people moving.
Great course, but…..
This course is amazing and in GREAT shape! The only problem is the cart path! Bring your neck brace, shock absorber, seat belt and stadium cushion!! The cart paths are TERRIBLE!! Safer to stay on the grass!
No Rental clubs
Called the day before, asked if they had rental clubs, they said yes, they had 4 sets. Called the morning of to double check, they said they don’t have any rental sets.
Coming from out of town this was a huge letdown
It’s Worth it
It’s October, the course isn’t going to be peak conditions but it’s a fun course with more interesting holes that any other course for less.
If you play, bring extra balls, prepare for lots of putting, and get food at the turn because they have great stuff.
Cart paths need to be repaved, but that’s the only downside
In terrible shape
Avoid this course. There has been a drought, but the greens are too firm. They need to do a lot of work to soften them. The grass is incredibly short so a few putt like glass. There isn’t enough friction to stop a ball no matter how well you spin it. Overall this makes for a poor experience.
Great layout!
Loved the course layout and it is a very challenging yet fair course design. Greens rolled great and fairways very nice, missed fairways or greens left a lot of hardpan lies and the traps had poor sand. Overall an awesome course to play and I would play again.
Foxfire
Course has a nice routing and some very good holes. Several challenging with elevation changes. It has been hot in central ohio so the conditions of the course were influenced by the lack of rain. Greens were very fast and have a lot of undulation, so were challenging on most holes. Overall, fun course to play but conditions could be better.
