Sugar Isle Golf Course
About
Sugar Isle Golf Course was designed by Jack Kidwell, a familiar name among southern Ohio golf courses. Water is a prominent feature of the course, Kidwell incorporated it on more than half of the holes. Some 20 white sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout the layout, providing a scenic contrast to the water and lush greens. For an added challenge, many of the fairways are lined with mature trees although there is some room for error, which makes them more accessible. It is a course that will make you think but it is not too intimidating for beginners. The versatility makes it popular for outings and tournaments. Sugar Isle has even hosted the area's high school programs for more than 30 years. In addition to the golf course, there is also a driving range and large putting green.

Nice Local Course
This course can be challenging if it is windy or there has been much rain. If there has been rain recently then parts of the course are really wet. Greens are really tough to read.
Nice course
Very nice public course, not hard, but not easy, fun to play. . Do not like the way they changed the layout, does not flow at all, need to go back the way it was with the par 3 for 18tth hole
Love this course
Sugar Isle is a very nice public course. It has a lot of character without being too difficult, and not too pricey!
It has been the go to course for our foursome when we don't feel like traveling. We have probably played this course about 15 times this year.
It's a gem
Sugar Isle is a top notch public course for a reasonable rate. The carts are a little old but the course itself is in great shape. Fairways, greens, and bunkers are all in a better state than other public courses for the same fees.
Nice Track
Great day to play. Course was in good shape, greens a bit dry and fast.
Great golf
We started with a little bit of fog, (actually pretty cool play). Putts we're dropping, life is good....then the sun came out.
Routing
Changed routing to cause players to pass "club house" an additional time, which made routing of back nine strange. It is poor routing and effects the flow of the course.
Good course
Play in a league there, course is in good shape, fairways have just been punched, fun place to play, don't like how they changed the holes around, doesn't flow as good.
Good Day at Golf Course
Played here today and had a good round. Pace of play was good on front 9 but slower on back 9. Finished round in about 3 1/2 hours. Greens were really hard today like they hadn't been watered but spoke with a worker who told us the greens aren't hold water. Hit several shots onto the green that should have held but they ran off the green. Other than the greens the rest of the course was in good shape. Of course they were raking the bunkers today and I didn't visit one of them.
Nice course
This is a nice course with very friendly staff. The course itself was in fair condition. There were clumbs of dead grass where they had mowed. And some dead spots on the green. I recommend this course if you can get a golfnow deal if not play somewhere else.
Ok to play not great!
Golf carts are old. No food or snacks to speak of. You have to bring your BYOB.
Always worth playing
Sugar Isle has always been a fun golf course to play but recent changes to the course and improved turf conditions have really increased its value. Greens were quick and the rough was short. Open enough to hit driver on most every hole but the greens are tricky and fun to putt.
Always In Great Shape
Sugar Isle is always in really nice shape. Nice smooth greens and good fairways. My only complaint is the geese! They seem to be getting more & more all the time. I hate having to navigate through areas of goose droppings. Nasty. Maybe you should close the course for a day and tell the golfers to bring their 12 guages to thin out the flock.
Good bang for your buck if you go at a discounted time
I have played this course multiple times and if you get a discounted tee time then it is very worth it. Hole 9 is beautiful and the back 9 is very fun to play with it's twists, turns and hills.
