Sugar Isle Golf Course
About
Sugar Isle Golf Course was designed by Jack Kidwell, a familiar name among southern Ohio golf courses. Water is a prominent feature of the course, Kidwell incorporated it on more than half of the holes. Some 20 white sand bunkers are strategically placed throughout the layout, providing a scenic contrast to the water and lush greens. For an added challenge, many of the fairways are lined with mature trees although there is some room for error, which makes them more accessible. It is a course that will make you think but it is not too intimidating for beginners. The versatility makes it popular for outings and tournaments. Sugar Isle has even hosted the area's high school programs for more than 30 years. In addition to the golf course, there is also a driving range and large putting green.

Nice course
This is a nice course with very friendly staff. The course itself was in fair condition. There were clumbs of dead grass where they had mowed. And some dead spots on the green. I recommend this course if you can get a golfnow deal if not play somewhere else.
Ok to play not great!
Golf carts are old. No food or snacks to speak of. You have to bring your BYOB.
Always worth playing
Sugar Isle has always been a fun golf course to play but recent changes to the course and improved turf conditions have really increased its value. Greens were quick and the rough was short. Open enough to hit driver on most every hole but the greens are tricky and fun to putt.
Always In Great Shape
Sugar Isle is always in really nice shape. Nice smooth greens and good fairways. My only complaint is the geese! They seem to be getting more & more all the time. I hate having to navigate through areas of goose droppings. Nasty. Maybe you should close the course for a day and tell the golfers to bring their 12 guages to thin out the flock.
Good bang for your buck if you go at a discounted time
I have played this course multiple times and if you get a discounted tee time then it is very worth it. Hole 9 is beautiful and the back 9 is very fun to play with it's twists, turns and hills.
good day on the course
It was a cold spring day and we have had a lot of rain but other than the bunkers which were wet but not standing water, we had a good round.
Slow Slow Slow
Played the front 9 in 3.5 hours. No real organization or leadership from the staff to get the group in front of us moving. 3 holes were open and groups were skipping 2-3 holes to get in front of the slow group. Again nothing was done from the staff's end.
Besides that this was a typical country/rural course. Cornfields dotted the course and it was open and easy. The Greens were the only real difficult aspect to the course.
Nothing to write home about, and there are courses 15 minutes away that are cheaper and way better.
Great course!
This course is a very nice course, relatively easy with a few challenging holes. Over all open course that is kept up very well. One of my top 2 courses I have played at (little biased only course I ever shot under 100) but great for just a weekend or drinking golfer!!
Good value
Course is in great shape. Rhe senior tees are great for the older players.
early in the year
tee boxes and fairways where not maintained, but greens where great.
Good layout; poor condition.
Fun design but rough conditions. Sparce grass in fairways and spotty greens. No windows on carts. My Skycaddy GPS was confused about what holes I was on as if the holes had been shuffled at some time.
Go to course.
My golf buddies try to golf a different course every week. When we can't decide, or are pressed for time, this is our go to course. Lots of charachter and close for all of our foursome. I recommend this course for anyone not anticipating a championship style course. As public courses go around the Dayton area, it isn't the best, but not far from it. IMHO.
Hit them straight, and as always use good golf etiquette!
Great course north Dayton
Value for the money, good condition, good layout. Just wish they served food at the turn
Great Course
Love the challenge and layout of this course. Some holes are tight while others are wide open. Some holes require positioning to stay away from trouble and others, you can let it rip. Overall fun course.
Good round
We enjoy playing this course. We played in November an greens an fairwell were in good shape.
We're glad you got in a great round of fall golf! Thank you for your support this season and your review Hisservant59!
