Signature hole #6 par 3 Photo submitted by Tsmellars on 06/16/2013
Great course, but due to right tee time groupings, it's extremely slow
I played 18 today with my daughter.
The good:
- The food is great, I would actually come here to eat even on days I'm not golfing. The hot honey chicken sliders are amazing. They have a great bourbon selection as well, though I didn't have any, so not sure on the price.
- Despite this year having a bad draught, the course was in great shape, no dead spots.
The bad:
- Their tee times are 8 minutes apart. We had a tee time for 12:08. They were already 2 groups behind at noon. There were many times there were 3 and sometimes 4 groups on a tee box waiting. The groups in front of us weren't terrible either. Nobody spent much time looking for balls. This is what you get when you don't allow enough time between groups. It took 5 hours and 20 minutes for 18 holes. I won't be back until the tee times are spaced out appropriately.
Course was pure. Greens were rolling true, nice, and fast. The greens and fairways were also soft and course was in great shape. The layout was very nice and for an average golfer like me, it was just right for scoring well. Would definitely recommend this course if you’re traveling and close by the area in Ohio. This course was the ultimate “bang for your buck”.
6+ hour rounds on a chewed up course with hostile staff
Don’t waste your money on this course!
An incredibly hostile employee insisted I be assessed a fee for a rider, even though the groups ahead of us and behind us stated they were told they weren’t told to pay one. I simply said that perhaps the course should list that information in the rates section of their website for transparency. This old man went off on me, followed me around the pro shop shouting “EVERYONE HE WANTS TO COMPLAIN ANOUT ME”. He said every course he’s ever played always charges a rider fee (ya know, except their course when it’s anyone but us)
When the grease ball teenager posing as some type of leadership reluctantly spoke with me, he refused to engage in the conversation. Finally, after rolling his eyes several times, he said “yeah I just don’t have time for this”.
The starter told us they reduced the tee times to 7-minute intervals (GREEDY OWNERS), but would insert people in when there was no tee times. Every tee box we were at, there was at least the 3some in front of us and the 4some in front of them. After hole #4, we were at 1:15 on the round.
We teed off just after 3:04 and left the course at 7:30 after playing 14 holes. Yes, it was a Saturday, but even if you excuse the 6+ hour round pace, there is no excuse for the shape this course was in. Greens looked like they took mortar fire. Tee boxes were so chewed up that it looks like they haven’t moved the tee markers all year.
Several groups made phone calls to the pro shop about the pace. We saw the ranger/starter/marshal one time. He came out to tell someone to keep all 4 tires of their cart on the path—as if the poor shape the course was in would be affected by that.
Spend your money literally anywhere else. This course should be turned in to farmland and the owner and management should never be allowed near a golf course again.
My review
This was my second time playing this course in a week so far this is my favorite course. We played Wednesday also and I feel like the course was in better condition that day but that being said I love the course and will be returning in the near future.
Great
Best public course in Columbus. Truest greens around.
Top Public Course
This is a top public course in the entire area. Greens are always in good shape. Drainage is great. Fairways well taken care of. And course is challenging enough for most handicaps. If playing during the weekday price is great. Weekends get pricey but well worth it.
Good shape overall
The course is in great shape overall. LOTS of ball marks both repaired and un repaired on the greens though from the amount of play they get. Starter is kinda grouchy but you’ll have that some places. Greens still rolled pretty well but some were a bit bumpy from the ball marks.
