Wind Watch Golf & Country Club

About
Although it is located in Hauppauge on Long Island's North Shore, Wind Watch Golf Club possesses the look and feel of a destination course. Sprawling across a lush, rolling landscape covered with sparkling ponds, the course is as challenging as it is scenic. Water hazards come into play on 12 holes and there are more than 75 bunkers, some of which are massive in size, strategically placed throughout. Almost every hole presents golfers with a unique risk-reward opportunity. The golf course begins and ends at its highest point, which is one of the island's highest elevations. Wind Watch's closing hole provides a memorable finish as the only dogleg on the course. This par 4 takes a sharp left before climbing uphill to the triple-tiered green that is protected by three enormous traps.

what a view from the 18th green Photo submitted by Richard5321 on 11/02/2013
One of the best on the Island
So happy I got to play this track. Staff was great course was wide open and presented enough challenges. It however had some very straight forward shots to blend in feel good play.
Cannot wait for next season..
Great track
Course layout is really good although tight. Pace of play on a Monday in September at 1:10 was terrible. Foursome in front of us with 20 something’s were waiting for par four greens to clear from the blue tees and they couldn’t hit the ball 200 yards.
Five some in front of them was two holes down. Five hour round. Not enjoyable
Good Course
After the aeration the greens have turned out to be great
20th time playing
Staff: professional and friendly.
Course: Good conditions. Nice maintenance.
Restaurant: Excellent Cheese burger with fries. Great server.
Entrance and surrounding grounds: Done beautifully!
See you very soon.......David F.
Solid round
Course is in great shape. Must've aerated a few weeks back, but greens are still rolling quick and putts are minimally impacted. Layout is unique, but this is not a super "walkable" course as some tee boxes are a quarter mile from the previous green.
On this particular day, they did not have any coffee at the clubhouse, half-way house, or with the mobile beverage cart, which was disappointing. All of the food for purchase is cash only too. No water on course, either, so just come prepared.
Otherwise, no complaints. Great pace of play w/ tee times 10 min apart. Has a passable driving range and putting area.
Wind watch golf
Facilities are not well maintained. There was no starter at the 1st tee directing golfers. Greens fees are too high for the golf experience offered.
Worth the price
No wait, course is in great condition, and a 4 hour Sunday round is priceless!
pretty course
We played on Monday 8/18. The tee boxes were in very poor shape. the rest of the course was in pretty good shape considering the time of season. Unfortunately, the cart girl did not have any food, only snacks (crackers, peanuts etc) and the halfway house was not open so we were very hungry during the day
Fair Course
I like the course for the challenge presented. However, the course is in need of attention-divots in fairway not repaired and no container on the cart to fill divot. No color on cart for cold beverages-it was 90 degrees and the club washer on the cart was in need of replacement. I paid on Golf N ow with a Hot Deal so that that extent, I got what discounted price I paid for.
Nice fun golf course
Course is always in good shape. It was a little drier and faster than normal than I remember but that's because we haven't had much rain lately.
I played with my wife who didn't love it because there are many sand traps and she hasn't yet mastered her sand game
Most difficult first hole on LI?
This course is maintained exceptionally well and is what I’d consider very challenging due to bunker placement, water hazards, elevation changes and beautiful but very fast greens. We played from the whites and the tee box was positioned to the left next to the blue tees — a very challenging tee if you’re not able to draw a ball with your middle irons. It’s about the 10th time I’ve played it and it doesn’t seem to get any easier…
