Safari Golf Club
About
Located adjacent to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium, Safari Golf Club was carefully carved from mature forests. This tight course is not particularly long, but it has a varied design that appeals to a number of different tastes and skill levels. The layout features tree-lined fairways and water hazards on several holes. There are also strategically placed bunkers lurking treacherously beside the greens. The golf course starts off with a challenging par 4 that features a dramatic drop from the tee to the green. It finishes with two demanding par 4s as well. The 17th and 18th holes both feature a slew of challenges including rolling, tree-lined fairways and tricky stream crossings. Although it presents a formidable test on some holes, Safari Golf Club's hazards are straightforward with no surprises.

Learn how to not organize a golf course
Show up early for 809 tee time
Wait at first tee u til 840 to tee off
On one hole there were 10 carts on one hole from people spraying onto the fairway from
Other holes. Two carts near the green. Two carts on the fairway and our two carts at the tee box and four from the parallel holes
And once we get to the fairway the ranger has the nerve to say try to keep up with the group in front of you.
Total joke - zero awareness-
Turns out they had an outing later that day but didnt try to manage the course by starting on time but by uselessly trying to rush golfers who are waiting for the fairway to clear of stray golfers and hackers.
Nice people but so irritating they dont know how to run a gold course and tee times and who to tell to play faster
Great Track
Great time at Safari the Greens are in great shape and the course is playing tough. 18 is still a signature hole which requires two well struck shots. Great staff!
Fun and beautiful
My co worker and I played it for the first time. We both really enjoyed it. Everyone was friendly. We were paired up with another pair and had alot of fun. Course was in very good conditions!
Delay
When arrive and told tee-times are running 40 minutes behind , starts the day off on a bad note .
Good course for the money
Safari has a challenging course that is well maintained. Staff is very friendly and it is one of my favorite courses in the area. Looking forward to returning again soon.
This course has a nice variety of holes
Turf was in great condition and the course was well groomed. Greens where slow otherwise a nice experience
Great course for the price!
Beautiful course! Hole 18 was challenging and fun! What a way to end it if you can stay out of the brook... I will be back!
Nice average course
Good value, crowded slow play for a weekday, but overall a good day of golf
Nice course
Course was in good shape. Relatively short from the white tees, but most of the greens have slope and putted true. Lots of parallel fairways. Not recommended for walkers - lots of space between some of the holes. Would definitely play again.
Should be better
Lived in Columbus for 30+ years, played here a handful of times. It’s always disappointing. Greens are really boring, layout is pretty boring and confused. Requires almost no intelligent golf play. You can get lost with the cart paths and layout. the conditions are average, but honestly it would be hard to make a more boring golf course with this land. There should be more trees. Greens should have some kind of variety to them. You can pretty much read them from the teebox and get it right. You only really need a few clubs all round. It has the same canvas as some of the nicest golf courses in the world and yet achieves a very forgetful experience. Sad to see they recently invested a lot of money into it and it’s still this lame. I don’t know who runs the columbus public golf courses but it’s amazing how mediocre they all are and always have been, despite the city growing so much and golf becoming so popular again. It’s a private course kind of city i guess. Idk, if I were them, I’d consider getting new passionate people, and consider a full restoration with totally new greens and maybe a whole new layout. Idk how you go back to the same designer that made the course boring in the first place. Oh wait, he’s probably friends with the guy who’s been running the show for the last 5 decades.
