About
Windmill Lakes Golf Club consistently ranks as one of the best courses in the state and is definitely the top golf course in northeastern Ohio. Located in Ravenna, it is the home course for the men's and women's golf teams at Kent State, which is only six miles east of the club. The large, undulating greens are the layout's defining feature. The greens also have a reputation for being some of the best-maintained in the area, allowing them to roll fast and true. The fairways, tee boxes, and rough also boast the same great conditions. More than 50 bunkers are strategically placed throughout the golf course and there are seven lakes that provide water hazards. The Windmill Lakes layout, which measures to just under 7,000 yards, only has two par 5s but there are several long par 4s that demand accurate drives and strong iron play.

I love, Windmill Lakes, the staff is not very friendly, they set us up with a single and within minutes that changed to a twosome, they were not able to give directions on the phone??? told me to get it off the internet!!!! The restrooms and lower level has been ignored, it smells and needs cleaned badly.
Spectacular
Windmill Lakes is a Pro quality course. Great variety of tee positions, outstanding groomed fairways, like hitting off carpet. Ruff mowed and well maintained, greens challenging and true, just a great course. GPS on carts never leave a doubt on what club to use. Will definitely be returning to play again.
This course is maintaned very well.
Great course. Greens are fast, with subtle breaks, that can be a challenge to read. The layout is great, no tricked up fairways, with no blind spots to the green. Overall, great course. Poor pace of play.

this course is always in good shape
Even with lots of rain the night before the greens were smooth and relatively fast. Rough was playable, beautiful fairways and the staff is always very friendly. I need to make the drive more often.

Excellent value
Sand protected almost every green with the pin placement forcing a carry over the sand in most cases. It was a risk/reward decision in every case. We played the white (6100 yd) tees and scored our usual scores. Greens were fast and undulating, but not overly tricky. We played @ 7:36am with several groups before and after. We still finished by noon with minimal waiting. A very well-stocked clubhouse. The only downer was that the snack bar wasn't opened before tee-time, so no coffee. Not a deal-breaker by any stretch. The regulars were all friendly as was the staff. Upon hearing this was our first time at WL, the starter quickly explained some of the holes, GPS and pin placements. A great value! Was kind of hoping it would be set up with taller rough for high school and college play...maybe later in the year?

Slow Play
This is one of the better courses around. However, the wear and tear of the season is showing. What irked me most is there was no effort at moving people along. We had a foursome playing from the senior tees in front of us and we had to wait 10 minutes on every tee. It was a five and half hour round.

Course conditions were very good but pace of play was absolutely horrible
1st time playing the course. Course conditions were very good. Should have left the driver home as most holes were way too tight for a driver...especially #10. The pace of play was the worst I have seen in years. The pro shop said to see starter on hole #1 but there was no starter. There were 7 groups waiting to tee off on #1 with lots of confusion on who had the box next. It started off very slow and the pace never improved!!! Hopefully, the next time I play the pace of play will be tolerable.

Great conditions, longer par 70.
Course was in great condition. No starter on 1 so it was little haphazard getting teed off with multiple twosomes going one after another. Play was slow until a ranger finally got things moving around number 7. Played from Blue and 6500 for a par 70! Played long. Big time pro shop, can get just about anything there. All around good experience.

Challenging but fair
The course as always was in wonderful shape. Greens are true but quick with lots of undulations. Staff was courteous and helpful. Would recommend course to anyone who truly enjoys the game.

Windmill - July 2016
Windmill Lakes is always in excellent shape. Fairways and greens are impeccable;; especially for a public course. A number of tee boxes allows a fair test of golf for all levels of play.
When you book a "Hot Deal" on GN, call Windmill Lakes first to see if there are any Jr tournaments (10 and under) ahead of the Hot Deal team time. We were not told this prior to the round and play was very slow. I completely understand and applaud Jr tournaments, however Windmill staff just needs to disclose this upfront. We could have went elsewhere. We were only able to get in 9 holes.
The Pro Shop at Windmill is a gem. They have everything and a knowledgable staff. My only complaint is the friendliness of the staff. They seem distracted and the customer experience feels like you are a nuisance.
Visit the bar/restaurant. All applause for their food, service and drink selections.
I will always play Windmill Lakes because the good far outweighs any bad.

Great course great value
Windmill Lakes is one of nicest courses In northest ohio. Great layout. Multiple tees to fit your game. Lots of sand. Fast greens. Don't over read them. We all read too much break into many of our putts.

Venerable Track Doesn't Disappoint
It is becoming more and more of a treat to play this course! Greens are outstanding. General conditions are excellent. Classic layout. Back side does have a "ginchy" hole or two.

Best I have played in the area
I am new to the area, so I had never heard of Windmill Lakes. I decided to play it based on the feedback on Golfnow. I love the course. It's a challenging course but fair. The greens gave me a problem because they were slower than I am used to. My problem, not the course. The course was in great shape including the bunkers, which seems rare anymore. The pro shop was extremely friendly and I was surprised to see how big their selection of clubs and apparel are. I will be going back this week!

Course played longer than the card due to the wind and it also swirled through the trees. Greens rolled true and quickly.
