About
Windmill Lakes Golf Club consistently ranks as one of the best courses in the state and is definitely the top golf course in northeastern Ohio. Located in Ravenna, it is the home course for the men's and women's golf teams at Kent State, which is only six miles east of the club. The large, undulating greens are the layout's defining feature. The greens also have a reputation for being some of the best-maintained in the area, allowing them to roll fast and true. The fairways, tee boxes, and rough also boast the same great conditions. More than 50 bunkers are strategically placed throughout the golf course and there are seven lakes that provide water hazards. The Windmill Lakes layout, which measures to just under 7,000 yards, only has two par 5s but there are several long par 4s that demand accurate drives and strong iron play.

Windmill Lakes
Nice course. Nice staff. Course conditions very good. Greens very slick. Nice balance of water, Sand, and trees. Weather was excellent and as mentioned before course was in great condition. Stay away from the sand in the water and you should score well if you can putt.

Got this round on golf now for real cheap. Can't believe only paid 25 for 18- and a cart. Great deal for a top 10 course in Ohio.

Consistently Excellent
Windmill Lakes lives up to its No. 2 in Ohio ranking. This course is an absolute pleasure to play, and every aspect of the course is delightful. If you can book a tee time here at a price below course rate, DO IT. Although the course is expensive, it is worth it. That's why I recommend trying to book through golfnow for a reduced rate. I played on a hot deal for $20! Regularly that would cost $47.50!

Expected more from #2 course in Ohio
Drove nearly 2 hours to play here, as I saw the tremendous ratings for Windmill Lakes. The course is quite nice, with excellent greens that were fun to putt on. Not a whole lot of variety of holes, mainly370 - 390 straight away par 4s
Played the front in 90 minutes. Even though front tee was vacant, staff sent out 3 groups in front of us on the back nine. Took well over 2 hours to play it.
This is a solid 4 rating course, but, I have played several others in Central Ohio that I gave a 5 rating to.

Better then avg experience
Course is highly advertised but is not on the level of upper tier public courses. Greens were nice and fast but did have some visual rough spots from golfer not repairing divots and picking up their feet when walking.
Pro shop has a great variety of golf equipment with great prices however, I Demi's a iron and was very interested in purchasing the set. The staff couldn't have cared less about the purchase. I will research the clubs on line and buy this way.

Excellent course
The staff were all wonderful, polite and welcoming. The course is long and a challenge. Plenty of water, sand and trees, calls for planning shots. Course in excellent condition. their pro shop is huge and great buys as well. Was told it's Kent States mother course. would definitely play their again.

Best all around sometimes pace will vary greatly. Lush green well kept. This course gets a lot of playand you just couldn't tell it.

Slow....
I've played this course 4-5 times in the last two months, and it is a a great course. However, the last two times I played, it has been extremely slow. On August 23rd, it took over 6 hours to ride 18 holes. When finished #1 on that day, there were 4 groups (1 on green, 1 on tee box, and 2 waiting to tee off) on #2 (a par 3). A ranger on that day told us they let people sneak on between scheduled groups. On September 6th, I quit after 9 holes due to it taking over 2.5 hours to play those as a single; even though I was told "it was wide open" by the starter.
I love the course and it is one of my favorites in the area (I drive an hour each way to play it), and will play it again. However, I need to forget these negative experiences before going back.

Excellent course and fair price for what you get! Pro shop has great prices on golf shoes.. Food and beverage facilities are lacking.. Plan to go here often!!

Nice challenge
Course was in very good shape! Nice layout. Pace of play a little slow (5 hours) but it was the weekend and very busy. Staff was nice and helpful.

Management
Course was in great shape, but management of pace of play and course etiquette was dismal. On-course ranger provided no direction to slower players.

Excellent golf course
Windmill Lakes is a top notch well-run facility. This is Kent State's home course and is a challenge. Well conditioned. Interesting. Fun. Par 70. You will use all of your clubs!
Only issue ....... no starter. Pace of play was under 4 hours on a beautiful afternoon.
