About
Windmill Lakes Golf Club consistently ranks as one of the best courses in the state and is definitely the top golf course in northeastern Ohio. Located in Ravenna, it is the home course for the men's and women's golf teams at Kent State, which is only six miles east of the club. The large, undulating greens are the layout's defining feature. The greens also have a reputation for being some of the best-maintained in the area, allowing them to roll fast and true. The fairways, tee boxes, and rough also boast the same great conditions. More than 50 bunkers are strategically placed throughout the golf course and there are seven lakes that provide water hazards. The Windmill Lakes layout, which measures to just under 7,000 yards, only has two par 5s but there are several long par 4s that demand accurate drives and strong iron play.

I will start with the positives with this course. Windmill lakes is a fair course when you have good weather on your side. The course layout is good, with some interesting par 3 holes. The clubhouse is large and maintains and adequate selection of balls, clubs, and other accessories. That’s the only good I have about this course. In my opinion, it is over priced. I have 10x the fun when I’m at a more local course that charges 10 or even 15 dollars less than windmill. Staff members do not have the best attitudes at the course. The pace of play there is turtle slow. The time it takes for people to play through is atrocious. This is not my first time at this course, I’ve been here more than a few times. Too many people think they’re tiger woods on the course and wait a whole 15 minutes just to chunk or thin the ball 100 yards. Going back to staff, you will encounter having your tee time booted for no apparent reason when you reserve. I have no idea why they do it with no explanation, but I guess that’s there way of saying “we have more important people willing to spend the same amount of money you guys are”, so bye. Lastly, this is half of the app’s fault gold now and windmill, but when you want a rain check at this or any course, good luck. I had a hot deal up on this course and I didn’t get to play my back nine because windmill shut down the course because of rain. So, I thought it would be easy to get a rain check, but it wasn’t. I had no option to get a rain check from golf now, and I was ripped off about 20 dollars. I don’t know why there isn’t an option to get a rain check on this app, but I guess that’s how it is. Windmill wasn’t helping dirt either. They said, “you have to call golf now.” WHO DO YOU EVEN CALL? Take my review with a grain of salt for somebody who’s been there multiple times. It’s not going to be like this for everyone. I’m probably getting the worst of it. 2/5 stars.

What a great challenge! The course was amazing and the greens lightening quick. Anything you get on this course you truly earn! Very tough yet completely fair - just a wonderful challenging round of golf!

Accommodating Staff
I had 11 golfers and 4 separate tee times! Staff member in pro shop and starter were awesome in arranging our 11 in three times while not hurting pace of play. So accommodating and appreciated! Course is always a good track to play. Tee boxes were a bit beat up due to humidity, shade and some rain?!! Herb Page is always great to bump into and always willing to talk about golf and his KSU players on tour! An added bonus for sure! Pins were in their Sunday 2 position which is always a challenge

Why so Wet?
CLE area has had 2 days of rain in July and this course was soaked. We were cart path only till the 5th hole. Playing a course this tough in wet conditions (when it should be bone dry) is not the most fun. Still the course was a deal, and I love playing here. I hope they aren't having drainage issues.

Course Condition has gone WAY DOWN
Not sure what happened, but this course's condition is horrible. Use to be great. Greens/Fairways have lots of burned out areas, weeds everywhere, landscape poor. Too bad, was a great, manicured course!

One of the best I've played!
Since moving to the Cleveland area I'm played 11 different courses and Windmill Lakes is definitely in the top 2 or 3. The course is in amaizing shape, the greens are fast & run true, the staff is fabulous and the price is so cheap for all you get. Highly recommend making the drive (45 minutes for me) for this gem!

Great course, fast greens...hard roughs
Course has a great layout. Not one hole is bad at all. I just wish they would pick up the grass trimmings on the sides of the fairways. It tends to hold the ball. Overall, a great course for the price.

Virus brings out the best
I must admit this seemed to be the smoothest and one of the quickest rounds I ever played here. There were many people here playing the course. The round went quickly, we never had to wait, the course was in very good condition. We all had separate carts and we had cartpath only, All this added up to a very nice afternoon!

Great course
Beautiful course! Even with the greens aerated they were true and quick. Tee boxes were very nice and clean. Nice pace especially on the back. I love playing this course.
