Rating 73.3

Roses Run Country Club is touted as being northeast Ohio's toughest public golf course. The course has an interesting mix of holes from lengthy par 4s to tough par 3s and reachable par 5s. The front nine is a traditional links layout while the back nine hugs the Cuyahoga River with winding fairways that melt into fast, sloping greens. The layout incorporates a variety of elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic. There are also water hazards and strategically placed bunkers coming into play throughout. Roses Run Country Club will require some creative shot-making and the use of every club in your bag. It's a formidable layout that will test even the most skilled players. There is a driving range and practice putting green you can use for warming up, which might be a good idea before taking on this tough course.

Challenging

First time playing here. Course is challenging and fun. Front 9 is easier than the back. Certain areas were really wet from the sprinklers but overall a good time.

A True Golf Course not a Cow Pasture

The best thing about this course is the difficulty. You will use every club in your bag. It requires you to make good shots. The range of difficulty varies from hole to hole easy to extremely hard.

The conditions are a factor of players who don't respect or know how to take care of a golf course. Other wise conditions would be excellent

One of my favorite courses!

The front 9 layout is one of the most fun I've played. I had a blast here early in the season when it wasn't that crowded. The back 9 is a challenge, especially holes 12-15 are very narrow. If you can one-putt on hole 17 then you deserve an award.

The tee boxes and rate of play can both be sub par depending on time of day, but that mostly has to do with the crowd. When people drink too much this usually happens. I've been stick behind fivesomes before.

Overall this is one of my favorite courses and I would recommend it!!

Very nice course

The course was in very good shape, except for some of the tee boxes...but the tee box did not affect my game...The greens were in excellent shape as well as the fairways... very true rolls on the putting....perhaps some better signage on the back 9...I believe the 12th thru 15th holes may be a little confusing for golfers that don't play the course often....another 4 some guided us thru that stretch... overall a very good day at Roses Run...Congrats. to the groundskeepers..

Went here with a buddy to play a quick nine early morning, very nice course, but on the third hole we where approached by one of the golf course employees and where questioned about a ball that went hard right and broke someone’s sky light in a condo on hole #1. I explained that we had all our shots accounted for and was 100% sure that we haven’t hit any houses or condos. The gentleman was kind of rude about the situation like he did not believe us one bit and just kept stating that “you know you’re responsible for a house being damaged by your shots” (which I know, I’ve playing golf for 20+ yrs now) I offered to give him my personal information, told him what kind of balls we where shooting, anything to be helpful to the situation knowing full well it was not us that hit said House. He just seemed annoyed like we weren’t telling the truth and turned around to head back to the club house. Well it turns out it was someone in a foursome playing infront of us. Who was never questioned during their round. I just feel like they singled me and my friend out because we where the youngest guys on the course. Very nice course, but that was a little ridiculous.

Good Course, but pace of play needs addressed

I came out to play this course on a weekday. Started front 9 with a group in front of us and no one was behind us on any hole through the first 9. Played at a decent pace and arrived to the back to find a new group in front of us. We finished hole 10 and got up to the tee box on hole 11 with the group in front of waiting to tee off as they were waiting on a 4 some in front of them. When we finished hole 11 and got to hole 12 we again ran into the group in front of us waiting to tee off as the were waiting on the group in front of them. At this point another group of golfers was coming up behind us with a group coming up behind them. On hole 12 we hit our drives and then were waiting for the group in front of us to finish. While waiting the group behind us hit and landed right where we were. I flagged them down and told them they needed to slow down because they were about to pass us because we were still waiting on the group in front of us to finish the hole. The course was not that busy, but I'm not sure if one of the groups was playing the wrong 9, or if the clubhouse was sending too many groups off the back 9 at once. By the time we got to hole 13 the same was still occurring as each group was basically caught up to each other and just waiting around. We saw no one on hole 15 and skipped holes 13 & 14 because waiting nearly 10 minutes in between each shot was getting ridiculous and it most likely was going to take 3 hours to get through the back 9 holes. From holes 15 to 18 we never ran into another group of golfers until we finished. I think going forward as the course starts to get busier they need to send an employee out to monitor the course and make sure each group is maintaining a good pace of play, or make sure the groups are playing the correct 9. For how slow of day it appeared to be I'm not sure what caused such a log jam of people, but it made for a miserable second half experience. I would play this course again, but I would that going forward someone is monitoring and spacing the groups out to avoid such long wait times.

Good Course, but Pace of Play needs monitored

I came to play the course on July 28th. The first 9 was nice and the course was well maintained. Started out with a group in front of us and there was no golfers behind us on the entire first 9. We got the back 9 and from hole 10 we started with a group in front of us which we caught up to on hole 11. Hole 11 we sat and waited as the group in front of us was waiting for a 4 some in front of them. When we got up to the tee on 11 there was group coming up behind us and then another group coming up behind them. On hole 12 we again were waiting on the group in front of us as they were waiting on the group in front of them. I'm not sure if the 4 some was playing slow, or if too many groups were being sent to the back 9, but the course was not that busy to have to be waiting almost 10 minutes in between each shot. I never saw any employee out on the course and pace of play should've been being monitored if in fact the clubhouse kept sending groups off the back 9. There was never a starter on either tee box. I think going forward there needs to either be a starter, or pacer out on the course to make sure golfers are setting a decent pace and 1 group isn't playing slow holding up many behind them. For it not seeming to be that busy of a day I'm not sure why it took 10 minutes in between shots and why out of seemingly nowhere there was about 6 groups of golfers all bunched together waiting on each other. I would play this course again, but I hope going forward golfers out on the course are better monitored and told to speed up play if they are holding up others behind them.

Hot outside

The maintenance crew was working hard running the sprinklers which was nice. Need to water the tee boxes for the blue tees though.

Decent with room for improvements

Fun course with lots of possibilities. The front 9 is definitely better than the back 9 though. The tee boxes could use some work as they are uneven and tore up... some sand would go a long way. Also the greens are inconsistent in their speed. Overall, I would recommend it if someone can get a discounted price.

Front nine greens punched

We like this course when it is kept up. Fairways and greens are really good. Front nine is being aerated so hard to putt. But this is a great course.

Not worth the money

This course is not worth $34. Just because it runs thru a nice neighborhood does not make it a nice course. Grass surrounding the greens is all dead. Allowed groups of 5 on the course that were not respectful to the other golfers. Other courses in area are less expensive and better taken care of, and have much better layouts.

Hi Andy, thank you for reviewing the course. Let us first start by apologizing for the poor experience you had during your visit. The current condition is by no means the standard we strive to achieve, and we are working towards getting things up to par. Thank you for playing Roses Run Country Club. We hope to see you again soon.
