Manakiki Golf Course
About
Named after a native American word for maple forest, Manakiki Golf Course's defining feature is the abundance of maple trees that line the winding fairways. The course is a classic Donald Ross design. He incorporated a variety of challenges including tricky doglegs, water hazards, up-and-down holes, and two canyon holes. The holes themselves also cover a range from short to long and tight to open. Golfers should prepare themselves for a bevy of uneven lies, but the dramatic elevation changes also guarantee some scenic views throughout the golf course. There are also sand traps but their placement and number were thoughtfully considered to make Manakiki G.C. challenging but still playable. It is popular for this reason but also because it is one of the best rounds in northeast Ohio you can find for under $50.

Best course in metroparks if not all of CLE.
This was the third time I had been to this course and I think it gets better and I appreciate it more each time. The staff were great , the holes are memorable and challenging. It has a lot to offer everyone. The course is beautiful, especially during mid fall. It is one of N E Ohio's more expensive public courses, but if you can find a deal, it's one you will want to play.
Worst customer service
I've given this course 2 chances and won't go back again. The staff is rudest group of individuals I've ever come in contact with. I'm an average golfer and like to play a nice course when I can find one cheap on golfnow. They watch you like a hawk even when your keeping a nice pace and being respectful. When you do have the unfortunate incovience of talking to someone on staff they talk down to you like your an idiot and really make you wish you hadn't spent money there. All the attitude of a snobby private course without the goods to back it up. I highly recommend going somewhere else.
the course is challenging and fun to play
Although the course is challenging and fun to play the conditions were horrible and I understand that they have to aerate the course but the greens were covered in sand, plugs all over fairways just think the staff could've informed us about the conditions beforehand, the rough was like playing the masters not well maintained
2nd best metroparks course
Obviously Sleepy Hollow is the best, but Manakiki is the 2nd best. Course was in good shape - Did look like it was getting ready for aerification. Good course, but if you think or want a very challanging day. Play from the TIPS. You will have to go from just grip and rip it to thinking what or where you want your second shot to be from.
The course was in fantastic condition!
The course was picture perfect condition. Very nice staff. Great value. As perfect as any private course I've played, if not better. Great challenge for any golfer. Thanks GolfNow.
Cleveland Metro
Great course. Challenging layout, deep rough, small greens. Will def test every club in your bag. Playing from the tips make many of the holes very interesting. I really liked the course, it played very fast for a Friday 3pm t-time. Greens were nice rolled fast, some of the pin placements seemed unfair...but golf is hard.
A classic that tests every part of your game.
Manakiki is one of the incredible gems of the Metroparks system. Great terrain changes, plenty of blind and near-blind shots, the hand of Mother Nature in the design. You can learn a lot about course management on this one. You like to learn, right?
Course Condition
The greens are in the best shape I've ever played there. Building new tees on 5 will give the hole a different look and bring the front trap more into play. The only drawback was the pace of play teed off at 1:45 got done at 6:45 some things never change.
Outstanding Track
Great condition. Very scenic. Some very challenging holes. Excellent greens. Great value if you get a GOLF NOW price. We paid $18.00. It was a steal.
One of a few hilly courses in the area
Gas powered carts are old clunkers. The course is challenging and pretty. Cart paths are in disrepair in some areas.
Great conitions even with all the rain.
Restaurant staff were very cordial and helpful. Proshop and starters were more concerned with leaving than helping.
THIS COURSE HAD A LOT OF ROLLING HILLS AND A FEW HOLES THAT DUE TO THE DOGLEGS , MADE IT DIFFICULT AS TO WHERE TO PLACE YOR TEE SHOTS.
THIS COURSE WAS VERY ENJOYABLE TO PLAY EVEN WITH SOME BLIND SHOTS OFF THE TEES. GREENS HELD AND ROLLED VERY NICELY. I HAD NOT PLAYED THIS COURSE IN ABOUT 25 YEARS AND DEFINITELY WILL BE BACK THIS YEAR WITH MORE PLAYERS. STAFF WAS FRIENDLY AND THE FLOW WAS GOOD, EVEN WITH THE COURSE BEING QUITE FULL AT 2:00 IN THE AFTERNOON.
Classic, old-style Donald Ross course.
Hadn't played Manakiki in 20 years, and I'm not sure why. It was only the 2nd time I'd ever played it(I live on the other side of town, and have lived out of state for several years in the last 20), and I was so happy to have gone back. A very fun mix of holes, several elevation changes, and some great driving holes. A very fun course to play!
Course was well kept and a fun challenge
The starter was a bit pushy as was the ranger who came around to check on us
The rate of play was quite slow. Wish it would have moved a little quicker.
The rate of play was pretty slow. Even with the course being wet it still was in pretty good shape.
Very good golf course
Donald Ross design doesn't disappoint! Manakiki is not a long course (@6600 from the tips) but is definitely not an easy course. There are quite a few tee shots that have very little margin for error, the greens are slick and can have some difficult pins, and trouble is never more than a few yards away. Keep in mind, we got a steal of a deal for a 6:30 am tee time for 2 but were paired on that deal with 2 more but still completed our round on a very busy day within 4hrs
My favorite !
I grew up on this course. I now live in FL and come to Cleveland to visit kids and family. What a treat it was to not only play this layout, but to just take in the views. It is a special place for me and my son.
Shameful pace- great course
This course has a great layout and is vintage Donald Ross with elevated tees that are protected by bunkers. The topography of the course is wonderful and makes the round that much more interesting and challenging. The pro shop and starter were very friendly BUT there is absolutely no course management. I only saw one ranger and he never said anything to anyone so the round ended up being over 5 hours. My group tried to play through a foursome ahead that consisted of two guys with jeans and tee-shirts who appeared to have never played golf before - they would not let us play through and no ranger was around to address the situation. I will never play there again because of the poor course management. Donald Ross would turn over in his grave.
this course held up great through the rain.
Manakiki was in great shape after a day of an inch of rain,I was shocked as to how maintained the bunkers and greens were!
Great Course - Customer service very good
This course is challenging, scenic and very well maintained by the Metroparks. The grill is reasonable although they need a better selection of beer. The pro shop stocks a variety of women's clothing. My ladies foresome will definitely be back.
