Manakiki Golf Course
About
Named after a native American word for maple forest, Manakiki Golf Course's defining feature is the abundance of maple trees that line the winding fairways. The course is a classic Donald Ross design. He incorporated a variety of challenges including tricky doglegs, water hazards, up-and-down holes, and two canyon holes. The holes themselves also cover a range from short to long and tight to open. Golfers should prepare themselves for a bevy of uneven lies, but the dramatic elevation changes also guarantee some scenic views throughout the golf course. There are also sand traps but their placement and number were thoughtfully considered to make Manakiki G.C. challenging but still playable. It is popular for this reason but also because it is one of the best rounds in northeast Ohio you can find for under $50.

Beautiful course
You can't go wrong with any of the Metropark courses. Manikiki is in beautiful shape as always. Great job by the staff also. I got held up a little at work and was a couple minutes late, but they took care of us no problem. It was a great time and well worth it.
most greens are elavated
FIRST TIME PLAYING COARSE AND EVEN THO I DID NOT PUT ANY SHOTS INTO WOODS, I LOST SEVERAL STROKES BECAUSE MY APPROACH SHOTS WERE A LITTLE SHORT AND WOULD ROLL BACK AWAY FROM THE GREEN (ONCE IT WAS 40 YARD BEFORE IT CAME TO A STOP)
ENJOYED THE COARSE VERY MUCH. IT TAKES ONE HOUR TWENTY MINUTES TO TRAVEL BUT WELL WORTH THE RIDE
Donald Ross hidden gem
We played the back tees, rained the first 6 holes then cleared up but temps never got above 50, perfect day to play an old Donald Ross layout. My first time playing but can't wait to get back in the summer and play it when its firm and fast. If you're in the area a must play.
Best ever!!
This is the best course I have ever played. Played Bandon Dunes (all 4 courses) and this is better. Tough but very fair. A great course for all levels of play. Do your self a favor and play this course today, I know you'll be smiling the rest of the day.
Always a fav...but...
Have always loved Manakiki, but I got no warning of aeration and sand filled greens. Made chipping and putting MOOT. I would stay away for at least a week if not more till they recover. I'll be back, but will call ahead first.
First Timer from Detroit
Used last minute golfer to find this course. I am moving to the area in the next few months so I am trying to get used to the area. This course is a gem of a find. VERY nice staff that could not have been more helpful. Course was in good shape and challenging. Great layout and will play this course again anytime.
One note - The food concession is transitioning to a new vendor so the food was not available. Should be fine in the future.
Hope to see you all soon!
one of the best public courses
they are always making improvement to the course. being a metroparks course they have public funding.
it's in good shape for this time of year. it was cart path only as it is wet in spots but not terribly so .
wasn't crowded, a great round. i wish i had a phote as it is a very pretty course. next time
Manakiki G.C. in the early Spring
They had just mowed the greens and fairways for the first time this year, so it was somewhat clean. The greens were still bumpy, because of lack of growth.
Tee's were in good shape. It was "cart paths only" , so there wasn't any problems with mud and/or standing water hindering our progress. All-in-all the course played at it's toughest, because of the lack of roll and the temperature was around 45 degrees.
Fun day though.
winter golf
course in good condition for december greens and fairways both in good conition for winter golf
Best course in metroparks if not all of CLE.
This was the third time I had been to this course and I think it gets better and I appreciate it more each time. The staff were great , the holes are memorable and challenging. It has a lot to offer everyone. The course is beautiful, especially during mid fall. It is one of N E Ohio's more expensive public courses, but if you can find a deal, it's one you will want to play.
Worst customer service
I've given this course 2 chances and won't go back again. The staff is rudest group of individuals I've ever come in contact with. I'm an average golfer and like to play a nice course when I can find one cheap on golfnow. They watch you like a hawk even when your keeping a nice pace and being respectful. When you do have the unfortunate incovience of talking to someone on staff they talk down to you like your an idiot and really make you wish you hadn't spent money there. All the attitude of a snobby private course without the goods to back it up. I highly recommend going somewhere else.
the course is challenging and fun to play
Although the course is challenging and fun to play the conditions were horrible and I understand that they have to aerate the course but the greens were covered in sand, plugs all over fairways just think the staff could've informed us about the conditions beforehand, the rough was like playing the masters not well maintained
2nd best metroparks course
Obviously Sleepy Hollow is the best, but Manakiki is the 2nd best. Course was in good shape - Did look like it was getting ready for aerification. Good course, but if you think or want a very challanging day. Play from the TIPS. You will have to go from just grip and rip it to thinking what or where you want your second shot to be from.
The course was in fantastic condition!
The course was picture perfect condition. Very nice staff. Great value. As perfect as any private course I've played, if not better. Great challenge for any golfer. Thanks GolfNow.
Cleveland Metro
Great course. Challenging layout, deep rough, small greens. Will def test every club in your bag. Playing from the tips make many of the holes very interesting. I really liked the course, it played very fast for a Friday 3pm t-time. Greens were nice rolled fast, some of the pin placements seemed unfair...but golf is hard.
A classic that tests every part of your game.
Manakiki is one of the incredible gems of the Metroparks system. Great terrain changes, plenty of blind and near-blind shots, the hand of Mother Nature in the design. You can learn a lot about course management on this one. You like to learn, right?
Course Condition
The greens are in the best shape I've ever played there. Building new tees on 5 will give the hole a different look and bring the front trap more into play. The only drawback was the pace of play teed off at 1:45 got done at 6:45 some things never change.
Outstanding Track
Great condition. Very scenic. Some very challenging holes. Excellent greens. Great value if you get a GOLF NOW price. We paid $18.00. It was a steal.
One of a few hilly courses in the area
Gas powered carts are old clunkers. The course is challenging and pretty. Cart paths are in disrepair in some areas.
Great conitions even with all the rain.
Restaurant staff were very cordial and helpful. Proshop and starters were more concerned with leaving than helping.
