Manakiki Golf Course
About
Named after a native American word for maple forest, Manakiki Golf Course's defining feature is the abundance of maple trees that line the winding fairways. The course is a classic Donald Ross design. He incorporated a variety of challenges including tricky doglegs, water hazards, up-and-down holes, and two canyon holes. The holes themselves also cover a range from short to long and tight to open. Golfers should prepare themselves for a bevy of uneven lies, but the dramatic elevation changes also guarantee some scenic views throughout the golf course. There are also sand traps but their placement and number were thoughtfully considered to make Manakiki G.C. challenging but still playable. It is popular for this reason but also because it is one of the best rounds in northeast Ohio you can find for under $50.

Tee-box #18 Photo submitted by DAB4par on 08/11/2014
Challenging course but fun.
Normal prices are too high for me, so thanks for golf now that I can get a discount occasionally
Needs a little work
Greens had been aerated a week ago. Still really bumpy and difficulty to put on. Fairways and rough were both in pretty good shape. Tee boxes also could use some work. Need to mow the greens and cut new cups also.
Need to State Aeration
I LOVE Manakiki, the layout and maintenance are great. However, athey should indicate that the course has been aerating online so you know this before you book a time. The had signs on the course but by that point it is too late!
Best its ever been
Grew up on this course this is the best shape it's ever been in,
Great course w/ fast greens.
Great Course - very well maintained and the greens were well kept. Be weary of the rough as it's difficult to find your ball if not right up on it.
Great Challenging course
OK...Great weather. People were friendly. One of the better metropark courses.
this course was great
I think the course was in great shape. It played well. The ranger and his crew were very courteous.
best conditioned course the the area in April
Busy as usual at Manakiki even on a Monday but the course itself was in fantastic shape. Greens were running smooth fast and very true. Fairways were firm and shaved very nicely. Ball was sitting up and the rough was lush and deep! One of my favorite courses in the Cleveland area. Just wish it wasn't so crowded all the time.
Another Great Cleveland Metroparks course
Played for the first time. Had heard great things for years about the course, all were true. Was well worth the money and the 40 minute drive. I will def. be going back to play.
Great layout!
Tough layout and fast greens- will look forward to playing again.
Nice Course and facility.
Nice course and facility. I purchased a pitching wedge before I played.
A must course to play if you live in or near Willoughby Hills, Ohio.
This course gets my highest rating for a stocked clubhouse full of clothes, clubs, and just about everything you need to play golf with. Staff is very friendly and will take there time to talk to you unlike some golf courses that take your money and aren't very polite. The course itself is challenging and is usually in great condition. Love playing there. Keep up the good work.
An escape to great golf
Manakiki is a wonderful course mixing length, dog legs, rough, hazzards, and bunkers with accuracy. This course is well maintained, and a challenge every step of the way. Bunkers are lined with fine sand offering the opportunity to exit gracefully or not. The rough is a real challenge with the best stratedgy being keep the ball in the fairway. The terrain is frought with inclinations, hills and angles. Course management is as much a part of the game as keeping it in the fairway.
The greens require one to read a putt well as there are angles, shelfs and breaks that are not meek. This all interprets into a fun, but challenging course. One will exercise every club, and type of shot know to golf.. Coollll!!
A great local jewel.
By far one of our more fun and challenging courses with great rates.Don't attempt to walk it though unless you're part billygoat, not many flat areas to the architecture, but forgiving if hitting ball good.
rolling terrain
I have played this course many times over last 30 years and always find it a very good challenge, I wish the practice green was redone to reflect the different types of putts you would find on the course.
Overpriced
It is a nice course but I feel that it is overpriced for the area. Paid $40 during the week after the greens were just treated.
Still A Course Donald Ross would be proud of!
Pace of play used to be a problem here, but no evidence on my last visit. Though I've played this course at least 80 times during the past 10 years, it was about the most fun I've ever had there. Tom and his staff have done a great job keeping the course fit during the past 5 years (after a near tragic greens disaster) and , despite the hot, dry Summer, it has held up well! A shot maker's kind of track, you'll still have a good time even if you spray the ball a bit!!
terrible time
the course was in bad shape, and the staff was not helpful at all. the course was PACKED and 18 holes was required to be purchased but only played 9 - refused to give a rain check. why have the tee time available if there are leagues and school functions going on?
