Elks 797 Golf Club
About
The 797 Elks Golf Club, formerly known as Quail Lakes Golf Course, has changed more than its name since first opening in 1961. When the course was up for sale in the 1980s, the trustees of the adjacent Elks 797 Lodge purchased the property in order to keep a public golf course for the community. The front nine was created well before the back nine was completed. Although the two nines provide a vastly different look and feel, they provide plenty of variety that manages to meld seamlessly into a great round. The ever-changing landscape adds to the course's diversity. Mature trees and tall grasses line the fairways, making accuracy essential, and you'll also find strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. There are definitely some challenges in store but with careful course management, you'll be rewarded with some birdie opportunities.

Great Round
Elks 797 is a great course to play to work on various aspects of your game. Holes are challenging but not overly difficult, if you can keep your ball in play. Depending on the wind conditions, some holes play longer than the yardage while others can play short. Overall, presents great value for the price.
Bang For the Buck
The value can't beat it! Played for 11 bucks plus convenient fee which if you ask me golfnow needs to lower those but besides that the course is a great scoring course. This course is great for beginners, but has putting greens true for any golfer. The only thing I disliked about course was how you shoot back and fourth along the previous fairways, also the fairways are a little rough but honestly grass was cut so very challenging to lose a ball hahaha. But, overall you can't bear the price and overall value!
Fun Course
The greens here are surprisingly good... it is too bad they can't mow more often. Even the fairways were shaggy. That being said, it is a fun course with tough holes balanced out by real birdie opportunities.
This course is usually in good shape but not this time i might be looking for a new course
the courses has good features
played in less than 4 hrs. on a Sunday with a lot of golfers. good conditions considering the amount of rain in the last week. friendly staff.
Very enjoyable, first time out this year, can you believe it, February ! Great course to get back in the swing of things on.
Needs Work
We had a gorgeous day to play golf. The weather couldn't have been better. We only paid $10 so I guess we couldn't complain much. Anything more would be highway robbery.
The condition of the course was terrible. There were bare spots(no grass/weeds, but mud from the rain the night before) all over the course. Weeds and dirt on the tee-boxes. On one hole, there were literally tadpoles swimming in the bunker. Most of the ball washers were broken. The greens were the most challenging I have been on in awhile. Hole placement and speed(FAST) made them incredibly treacherous.
On a few occasions we spoke among ourselves, IF they were to invest a little bit of money, and a whole lot of seed, it could be an AMAZING course.
Sooooo, for a beautiful weather day, $10 golf wasn't so bad.
High Expectations
After seeing all the 4 & 5 star ratings I decided to give the Elks a try. I believe that the Golf Now ratings are a bit nice. Maybe members trying to help the course out???
All tees were full of weeds if not just burnt up. Course was hard as a rock, which actually made for some drivable holes. Greens would hold shots and actually rolled nice & speeds were some of the fastest ive played this year.
Dont get me wrong, I believe this is a fun challenging course but it is not high end plush place. Like my title states maybe my expectations were just too high based on other ratings. I would play again but not on my must do's.
love this course
My favorite course. We always play at the Elks. The price, people, and course are awesome
big bang for the buck
It was nice surrounding.
It is very good price.
love it!!!
I have been golfing here for years and will continue.
Nice little track...
Will play here more often now, especially with the GolfNow pricing...!
