Elks 797 Golf Club
About
The 797 Elks Golf Club, formerly known as Quail Lakes Golf Course, has changed more than its name since first opening in 1961. When the course was up for sale in the 1980s, the trustees of the adjacent Elks 797 Lodge purchased the property in order to keep a public golf course for the community. The front nine was created well before the back nine was completed. Although the two nines provide a vastly different look and feel, they provide plenty of variety that manages to meld seamlessly into a great round. The ever-changing landscape adds to the course's diversity. Mature trees and tall grasses line the fairways, making accuracy essential, and you'll also find strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. There are definitely some challenges in store but with careful course management, you'll be rewarded with some birdie opportunities.

Great little course
Great place to build confidence in your scoring
Good greens . Good for whole family!
Nice place to begin the year.
Course was not in tip top condition, but this is still March. We had no issues with the course at all. We played as if it WERE our first time out. Good to get out and hit the ball. Could have played better, but not panicking at the lack of ball control. Nice day.
Great Day with my Son
Very nice course putting surface true challenging for a beginner enough that they can get the right shots to improve their game
Needs work
The greens are gone. Only two were playable. Would be much better to go ahead and aerate them and fill up all those bad spots. Fairways almost burnt up. Will take the fall to get back to normal.
This course needs help
If you are to judge a golf course based on the following:
1. Design
2. Condition of the Fairways
3. Condition of the Greens
4.Condition of the Cart Paths
5. Condition of Tee Boxes
This course gets a C or less on all of the above. There were only 2 greens out of the 18 that rolled true. Almost all of the greens had multiple seemingly moth eaten circular bumps with no grass that made you wish for aerated greens (at least those are predictable!). Several of the holes, we weren't sure where the fairways started and the rough ended, both were lacking in grass. The design is bizarre to say the least.
Like I stated, this golf course needs serious help!
Nice Track
Very nice course. Front nine greens in need of help. But playable. Staff was great.
Enjoyable Course
Pros
- Really nice municipal course
- Greens and fairways fairly well maintained
- Staff very friendly
- Easy location of the golf course
Cons
- Some of the greens could have been better watered
Not great
Worst rain check policy I have ever seen, unable to get a rain check due the ridiculous policy, and it was raining cats and dogs toward the middle of my round. You will have to see it to believe it. The pro shop worker who was in there when I arrived is a nice fellow. The guy who works the afternoon & evening shift is at least slightly rude, not going back any time soon.
Great course for the money
We usually play several courses and alternate by week. This week it was time for Elks 797. We actually were able to play 18 holes this week so got to do both 9's this week. Course was in pretty good shape. Staff are very nice and friendly. Price was absolutely fantastic thru GolfNow.
Very Good for March Golf
Greens a little rough but for March weather, very tolerable. Course in great shape for all the rain and snow lately.
