Elks 797 Golf Club
About
The 797 Elks Golf Club, formerly known as Quail Lakes Golf Course, has changed more than its name since first opening in 1961. When the course was up for sale in the 1980s, the trustees of the adjacent Elks 797 Lodge purchased the property in order to keep a public golf course for the community. The front nine was created well before the back nine was completed. Although the two nines provide a vastly different look and feel, they provide plenty of variety that manages to meld seamlessly into a great round. The ever-changing landscape adds to the course's diversity. Mature trees and tall grasses line the fairways, making accuracy essential, and you'll also find strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides. There are definitely some challenges in store but with careful course management, you'll be rewarded with some birdie opportunities.

Very enjoyable, first time out this year, can you believe it, February ! Great course to get back in the swing of things on.
Needs Work
We had a gorgeous day to play golf. The weather couldn't have been better. We only paid $10 so I guess we couldn't complain much. Anything more would be highway robbery.
The condition of the course was terrible. There were bare spots(no grass/weeds, but mud from the rain the night before) all over the course. Weeds and dirt on the tee-boxes. On one hole, there were literally tadpoles swimming in the bunker. Most of the ball washers were broken. The greens were the most challenging I have been on in awhile. Hole placement and speed(FAST) made them incredibly treacherous.
On a few occasions we spoke among ourselves, IF they were to invest a little bit of money, and a whole lot of seed, it could be an AMAZING course.
Sooooo, for a beautiful weather day, $10 golf wasn't so bad.
High Expectations
After seeing all the 4 & 5 star ratings I decided to give the Elks a try. I believe that the Golf Now ratings are a bit nice. Maybe members trying to help the course out???
All tees were full of weeds if not just burnt up. Course was hard as a rock, which actually made for some drivable holes. Greens would hold shots and actually rolled nice & speeds were some of the fastest ive played this year.
Dont get me wrong, I believe this is a fun challenging course but it is not high end plush place. Like my title states maybe my expectations were just too high based on other ratings. I would play again but not on my must do's.
love this course
My favorite course. We always play at the Elks. The price, people, and course are awesome
big bang for the buck
It was nice surrounding.
It is very good price.
love it!!!
I have been golfing here for years and will continue.
Nice little track...
Will play here more often now, especially with the GolfNow pricing...!
Nice course for anybody to play
Played the Elks course again before the season ends and weather gets too bad. Was fun to play. Course is generally not overly difficult but there are some challenging holes and condition was good. Will go back again when the weather permits.
Great Course for Average Player
Course was in very good condition. Greens in superb shape.
A fun course for an average player like me. Many of the holes allowed for short iron second shots. The par 5s were all reachable-though I didn't reach them! The course does have quite a few very challenging holes. The short water par 3 hole 12 is a neat golf hole. 16 is a very difficult par 4-par is a great score on that one.
Quick pace of play, great conditions, nice layout at a great price. What's not to like?
A good test
Playing from the blue tees makes some of the holes a real challenge. For early September course is in tremendous shape.
Great time for the price. Fairly tight fairways make it fun.
Played this course on an outing some time ago. Friend and I were looking for an inexpensive round on the fly and found this on Golfnow. Price was right and the course for a public was in good shape and cared for. Greens were fairly challenging with their choice of pin placements. Tight fairways made you think about it. Tee boxes a little rough, but overall fun and pleasant course. Like the water placement on holes. Fast round. Partner and I played just over 3 hours.
Best bang for your buck
Elks has a special place in my heart given that every time I play there, I seem to have a great round and I would consider myself a hack golfer. However, beginning and ending with a birdie on our last round definitely didn't diminish my enthusiasm for this course. I make the trek from Cincinnati to play this course with a buddy from Columbus. We have always enjoyed the course and only had one negative experience due to a slow group in front of us. They should add the smell of bw3 as an added hazard between the 2nd and 3rd tee. But overall, a fun course with a great layout and for a great price. Highly recommended.
Course in Great Condition
A threat of potential thunderstorms led to not to many players on the golf course. The rain did not come and it was walkable.
Great place
Great course. Fairways and greens are lookin great. People are nice. For the money you can't beat it.
Gotta love the 797
Really like playing the course. It's challenging yet fun.
Nice place to golf...
I enjoy the layout of the course. It is in the country & that gets it a relaxed atmosphere. It was very windy the day I played and it made it challenging.
Great for honing your skills
Fairways are not pristine cut but okay. Greens are in good shape with tricky cups. Overall a nice course. It will be memorable for me because I broke 90 for the first time!
ok for the money!
normally an enjoyable course, however some genius made the greens look like a golf ball by aerating with a way too big spike, impossible to putt , the woman in the shop is clueless!, and calls everyone Honey
nothing exciting
front 9 not much to it. back 9 much better. pace of play should be a lot faster than 4 hours. none the less, it was worth the drive.
